Overview

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is Thailand's primary international gateway and one of the busiest airports in Southeast Asia. Opened in 2006, it replaced Don Mueang as Bangkok's main international airport and serves as a major hub for Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, and numerous international carriers. The airport handles a vast mix of long-haul flights from Europe, North America, Oceania, and regional routes across Asia, making it a critical transit point for travellers connecting to destinations like Phuket, Chiang Mai, and beyond. Location & Access

Suvarnabhumi is situated in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, approximately 25 kilometres east of central Bangkok. The airport is well-connected to the city and surrounding regions by various transport options. The Airport Rail Link provides a direct train service from the airport to Phaya Thai station in central Bangkok, with connections to the BTS Skytrain and MRT metro. Trains run from around 6:00 AM to midnight, taking about 30 minutes to reach the city. Metered taxis are available at the official taxi stand on Level 1 of the terminal, with a standard airport surcharge. Ride-hailing services like Grab also operate from designated pick-up points. Public buses and airport minibuses connect to major bus terminals and cities such as Pattaya. For those driving, the airport is accessible via the Route 7 expressway and the Bang Na–Trat Highway, with ample paid parking available in long-term and short-term lots.
