Busiest on Mondays around 10 am — usually as busy as it gets.
Small airport but has everything a traveller needs. We'll maintained and clean facilities, well informed, courteous and multilingual staff. Terminal 1 and 2 are practically next to each other. Passport control for all nationalities present upon arrival. Easy access to bus stops (right outside the departure and arrival exits and entrance). Luggage space rental available outside as well. Waiting areas for busses are well maintained and clean. Bus and train ticket machines (accepts NFC and cash payments) available across the street next to the vending machines.
They finally fixing it. But they used Styrofoam for the rock while here white rock are everywhere. Plastic plants so people destroy them by setting next to it because they did not put any bench along the planters! Restroom still a disaster, literally no rooms.. you are at an airport so you have luggage but no spot for them, Restrooms are a small cubicles toilet paper is too high Handicap restrooms don't even have the second bar on the wall only one so you need to be only right handed papper is way to high small with hands dryers. Faucet are already loose and broken. and still no room to put bads. They did a special.baby rooms but as a mum you also need to pee but no restrooms. so you change your baby and go to a different restroom wait baby stroller doesn't fit inside the cubicle. Despite registration agents are kind of ...EXTREMELY RUDE. My bag fitted but still she was arguing that they can't let all their passengers taking their bags on board, but I insisted and I winned. Desapointed
The airport is small, but everything is close. Security checks, passport control, and all other procedures were quick. There's a good business lounge in the international area, and it wasn't crowded. A huge plus is that the car rental is very close to the airport, literally three minutes away.
Not bad for a budget airport. Decent food options and friendly enough security staff. That said, the coffee is surprisingly expensive, and seating is limited - worth keeping in mind if you're expecting a long wait.
Marseille Provence Airport (IATA: MRS) is the primary international gateway to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southern France. Located in the commune of Marignane, it serves the bustling city of Marseille and its surrounding areas, including Aix-en-Provence, Toulon, and the French Riviera. The airport handles a mix of domestic and international flights, connecting travellers to major European hubs as well as destinations in North Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. With millions of passengers passing through each year, it is the fifth-busiest airport in France outside of Paris. The facility is known for its efficiency and its role as a hub for low-cost carriers, though full-service airlines also operate here.
Marseille Provence Airport sits about 25 kilometres (16 miles) northwest of Marseille city centre, in the town of Marignane. Its inland location, just north of the Étang de Berre lagoon, places it within easy reach of the A7 and A54 motorways. Getting to and from the airport is straightforward:
Marseille Provence Airport offers a range of services to accommodate passengers with different needs. The following amenities are confirmed:
Peak hours at the airport are typically around 4 pm and 5 pm, when many flights depart for European and North African destinations. During these times, check-in and security queues can be longer, so travellers are advised to arrive at least two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before long-haul.
Marseille Provence Airport is your entry to one of France's most culturally and geographically rich regions. Provence is famous for its Mediterranean coastline, rugged mountains (including the Calanques), lavender fields, vineyards, and historic cities. Marseille itself is a vibrant port city with a 2,600-year history, known for the Old Port, Le Panier district, and the Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde. Aix-en-Provence, a short drive away, offers elegant streets, markets, and art festivals. The Calanques National Park, a series of stunning limestone inlets, is a must-visit for hikers and boaters.
Further east, the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur) stretches to Nice, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez. Inland, the Luberon region is dotted with hilltop villages and wine estates. The airport also provides access to the Camargue, a unique wetland area known for flamingos and wild horses. Business travellers use the airport to reach the numerous technology and logistics parks around Aix and Marseille.
For a smooth journey, book parking in advance online, check your airline's check-in times, and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi to stay connected while waiting.
