Busiest on Mondays around 12 pm — usually busy.
I have no complaints about this airport. After flying from all the London airports, Bristol, and Manchester, Exeter was great. It was small, not too busy, easy to get around, clean, and the executive lounge was nice. Parking was easy, everything was stress free
No shuttle bus from car park. Staff seem to take particular delight in harassing female passengers, comments made about size of makeup bag and told to "get rid of the cheap stuff". My uncle was Chief ATC here in the 1970s, embarrassed to be flying from this anti diluvian airport. Other staff in Duty Free helpful and without actually voicing it, seem embarrassed by the state of the place and how it is run.
Car park 4 ...... tiny parking spaces if you treasure your car, don't use this car park No shuttle bus to main airport and it's a good 10 to 15 minute walk , not fun when you've got cases to drag late at night in the rain, especially if you've got mobility problems The rose wine that I've got was absolutely disgusting. It would've made better drain cleaner !!! and no draft Beer or larger I'm still quite baffled about how we got to be rated one of the best in the UK
Great little airport with very small terminal, so easy to get around. Not great if it's raining when you return as you often end up outside getting rather wet but otherwise makes travelling abroad from Devon and Cornwall more accessible rather than having to travel to Bristol or Cardiff.
Exeter Airport is a compact international airport serving the city of Exeter and the wider South West region of England. It handles scheduled and charter flights to domestic destinations such as London, Manchester, and the Channel Islands, as well as seasonal services to European holiday hotspots including Spain, Portugal, Greece, and the Canary Islands. The airport is popular with both leisure travellers exploring Devon and Cornwall and business passengers visiting the region's growing technology and marine sectors. Despite its modest size, Exeter Airport offers a straightforward, low-stress experience with short queues and easy access to gates.
The airport is situated approximately 4 miles east of Exeter city centre, in the village of Clyst Honiton. Its location provides excellent road connections: the A30 links directly to the M5 motorway, making it easily accessible from Bristol, Plymouth, and the rest of the South West. On-site parking includes short-stay, long-stay, and drop-off zones, with a free shuttle bus from the long-stay car park to the terminal. For public transport, the Stagecoach 4A and 4B bus services run regularly between the airport and Exeter's city centre, bus station, and railway station. The journey takes around 20 minutes. Taxis and private hire vehicles are available outside the terminal. Nearby cities and towns include Exeter (15 minutes), Torquay (40 minutes), Plymouth (1 hour), and Taunton (40 minutes). The airport also serves as a convenient gateway for visitors to Dartmoor National Park and the Jurassic Coast.
Exeter Airport provides essential amenities to ensure a comfortable journey for all passengers. The terminal is fully wheelchair‑accessible, with a designated wheelchair‑accessible car park, entrance, seating areas, and toilets. Baby changing tables are available in the toilets. Free Wi‑Fi is provided throughout the terminal, allowing travellers to stay connected while waiting. The airport’s peak hours are around midday (12:00–13:00), when flights to popular leisure destinations tend to depart; passengers are advised to allow extra time during these periods. While the airport offers a range of retail and catering outlets, the confirmed amenities include only those listed above. Travellers requiring additional assistance should contact the airport in advance to arrange support.
Exeter, the county town of Devon, is a historic city founded by the Romans and later home to a magnificent 11th‑century cathedral. The surrounding region is renowned for its natural beauty: Dartmoor National Park offers rugged moorland, ancient woodlands, and granite tors, while the wilder Exmoor National Park straddles Devon and Somerset. The coastline is a major draw, with the Jurassic Coast (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) stretching eastwards, and sandy beaches, surf breaks, and picturesque fishing villages like Clovelly and Salcombe to the south and west. Visitors come for walking, cycling, surfing, sailing, and exploring charming market towns such as Totnes and Tavistock. The region also has a strong agricultural and maritime heritage, and is known for its cream teas, ciders, and seafood. Exeter Airport provides a convenient arrival point for exploring all these attractions, as well as for business travellers connected to the area's renewable energy, aerospace, and marine technology industries.
For a smooth journey, plan to arrive at least two hours before scheduled departure for international flights, and one hour for domestic flights. The airport's compact layout means walking distances are short, but those with reduced mobility or specific needs should notify their airline or the airport in advance. Car parking, public transport, and taxi services are all available, making Exeter Airport a convenient gateway to one of England's most beautiful regions.
