Busiest on Mondays around 12 pm — usually as busy as it gets.
This is a tiny airport with basic services. Beware, Ryanair staff at this airport is trained to target foreigners for extra payments. I bought a special 'Ryanair underseat size' suitcase because I am recovering from a surgery and cannot carry backpacks. My suitcase fitted the testing box and I was charged. Pics attached. And local passengers with overloaded backpacks were not checked at all. If you have a choice, avoid this airport and fly from Naples.
Hello Eliza. We inform you that check-in and boarding operations are under the airline's responsability and not the airport. For further information we suggest you to contact Ryanair at the following link: https://help.ryanair.com/hc/it/requests/new
Upon arrival, the passport control took over 30 mins as there was only 1 person to accommodate a whole aircraft full of passengers. When checking in, it was busy for the size of the airport with no seating available. Baggage security checks took longer than expected and the gate areas are small. This airport is convenient for my location, however it's stressful. Plane was also 1 hour late too leave but that was due to weather, overall a disappointing experience.
I'm giving this airport one star. I was flying to Vienna, and there was a huge line because they didn't think to separate the entrances for people flying to Vienna and those flying to London. Everyone ended up in one long queue. Then we had to wait for the bus and for the other passengers flying with us. They could've just made one line for each gate, and everything would've gone much faster. The Italian mentality honestly kills me sometimes. Oh, and by the way -- the London flight was later, but they got to board before us.
We were kept on the actual runway for about an hour after landing, standing directly under the sun. There was no water, no access to a toilet, and no information whatsoever. One woman even felt unwell. This has been the worst experience I've ever had at an airport.
Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport (also known as Aeroporto di Salerno) is a small international airport located in Bellizzi, about 20 kilometres west of Salerno city centre. It serves as an alternative gateway to the Amalfi Coast, particularly for travellers heading to popular destinations such as Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, and the Cilento coast. The airport handles seasonal and charter flights, primarily from European cities, and is increasingly used by low-cost carriers during the summer months. Though modest in size, it offers essential services and a convenient location for those looking to bypass the busier Naples Capodichino Airport.
The airport is situated near the A2 motorway and the SS18 state road, making it accessible by car or taxi. Its single terminal processes both arrivals and departures, with check-in desks and a small waiting area. Parking is available on site, with both free and paid options.
Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport provides a range of facilities aimed at passenger comfort and accessibility. The following amenities are confirmed:
The airport does not have extensive shopping or dining options. There is a small bar or snack area in the departures lounge, but travellers should not expect full-service restaurants or duty-free shops. Passengers are advised to bring their own snacks or food if needed, especially during off-peak hours when the bar may be closed.
Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport is not open every day. Its operating schedule is tied to flight arrivals and departures, so the terminal may be closed when no flights are scheduled. Peak hours, when the airport is busiest, are typically around 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. During these times, the check-in area and departure lounge can become crowded, and passengers should allow extra time for security screening.
Because the airport is not open daily, it is essential to confirm your flight's operating dates and times with your airline before travelling. On days with no scheduled traffic, the terminal may be locked and unmanned. The airport's opening hours generally align with the flight schedule, usually opening two hours before the first departure and closing after the last arrival.
For those planning to use the baggage storage or parking, note that these services are available only when the airport is open. Free parking may be left overnight at the owner's risk, but it is recommended to use the paid lot for longer stays.
For general inquiries, lost property, or information about the airport, passengers can use the following contact details:
The website provides flight schedules, parking information, and updates on airport operations. However, since the site may not always be updated in real time, it is wise to check directly with your airline for the most current flight status. The phone line is staffed during operational hours, but responses may be limited during off-peak periods.
The airport is well connected by road. Taxis are available outside the terminal, and ride-hailing services may operate in the area, though availability can be inconsistent. Public transport options are limited; a bus service connects the airport to Salerno's train station and some coastal towns, but schedules are infrequent. Most passengers find it easiest to rent a car or arrange a private transfer. The journey to Amalfi town takes about one hour by car, depending on traffic.
Parking at the airport is straightforward: the free lot is closest to the terminal, while the paid lot is slightly further but still within walking distance. Both lots are well signposted.
