Busiest on Mondays around 5 pm — usually as busy as it gets.
A wonderfully small airport in a beautiful part of the world.
An OK airport, never had any problems, personal always friendly and service-mined, but as many have noticed, the bus connection with Kristiansand is very poor, but I doubt that the airport is to blame for that.
Arrived early for a flight so was looking to get someplace to eat. Went to the flybar. We didn't know we weren't supposed to be there as no signs to say otherwise and no staff told us. Once the flight at the 10-12 gates boarded they shut off the way back to the 1-7 gates and told us we had to exit and go back through security despite us already being through. Thankfully the wait wasn't long but still very annoying having to do this. Food was insanely overpriced for what you got. Wait times not long. Just make sure you're heading to the right place to avoid this major annoyance.
Horrible customer service. If you are luggage is delayed, you are out of luck....critically under staffed.
Kristiansand Airport, known locally as Kjevik, is the main air gateway to southern Norway. It primarily serves the city of Kristiansand and the surrounding region of Agder, handling both domestic flights to Oslo, Bergen, and other Norwegian cities, as well as seasonal international routes to destinations such as Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and various sun resorts in southern Europe. The airport is a hub for business travellers, tourists exploring the picturesque coastline, and residents of the region. Despite its moderate size, it offers a straightforward and efficient passenger experience, with all key services located within a single terminal.
The airport is situated about 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) northeast of Kristiansand city centre, in the village of Kjevik. It lies along the E18 highway, making it easily accessible by car or taxi. For those driving, the airport provides both short-term and long-term parking options, with designated spaces for disabled passengers. A shuttle bus service connects the terminal to the main car park. Public transport is reliable: the airport bus (Flybussen) operates between the airport and Kristiansand bus station, with journey times of around 20–30 minutes. Frequent regional buses also link Kjevik to nearby towns such as Lillesand, Grimstad, and Arendal. Taxis are readily available outside the arrivals hall, and ride-sharing services operate in the area. Bicycles are permitted on local buses, but the airport itself does not have dedicated bike parking.
Kristiansand Airport offers a compact but adequate range of amenities for passengers. The terminal is fully wheelchair accessible, with ramps, wide doors, and accessible toilets. Automated doors lead into a bright, open space. Baggage storage is available for those wanting to explore the area without their luggage; lockers are located near the arrivals area. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the terminal, allowing travellers to stay connected while waiting. For families, there are baby changing tables in both the men's and women's toilets. The airport has clean and well-maintained toilet facilities. While there is no large shopping area, a small kiosk sells snacks, drinks, and travel essentials. A café serves light meals and beverages, and there are seating areas with charging points for electronic devices. The airport does not have a lounge, but the main waiting area is comfortable and spacious.
Kristiansand is the capital of the Agder region, known for its mild climate, white sand beaches, and vibrant cultural scene. The city itself is a popular summer destination, with attractions such as the Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park (one of Norway's most visited family attractions), the historic Posebyen district with its white wooden houses, and the modern shopping area around Markens gate. The southern coast, often called the Norwegian Riviera, draws visitors for sailing, fishing, and island hopping in the archipelago. The region is also a gateway to the Setesdal valley, known for its traditional folk culture and skiing in winter. Business travellers come for the city's thriving maritime, logistics, and technology sectors. The airport therefore serves a mix of leisure and corporate traffic year-round.
The airport is open daily, but hours may vary depending on flight schedules. Peak activity typically occurs in the late afternoon, especially around 5 pm and 6 pm, when several departures are scheduled. Passengers are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before domestic flights and two hours before international departures. The airport's official website is https://avinor.no/flyplass/kristiansand, where you can check live flight information, parking prices, and security wait times. For inquiries, call +47 67 03 03 90. Note that the airport is closed on certain public holidays, so confirm opening times if travelling during festive periods.
