Cute little airport in Aalborg. The arrivals and departures is a breeze. I think for a usual flight it would barely take 20 mins from entry to the gate. Since it's a smallish airport you can expect timely arrivals and departures without any queuing delays. One has to walk from airport building to the airplane and that can be challenging at times in cold weather. But I am not complaining. There are sufficient outlets including a place to eat and drink. There is a lounge upstairs. There are some gates upstairs, but it's moot because one has to anyway walk down to ground level and walk to the airplane. Good connectivity to the city. Car parking free for first hour. Overall loved the experience and hence 5 stars
This is our last stop. A small airport. They have very large parking lot. Clean and very peaceful as there are only a few flights I believe. Our agent was waiting for us which is good and accommodated and helped us bring our luggages into the taxi.
This quaint and quiet little airport in Northern Denmark was a fantastic gateway to and from our trip. All of the staff were friendly and patient -- answering our questions and helping us through the process of a forgotten purse on the plane and a tight connection in Amsterdam. The airport is "quiet" with minimal overhead pages (we didn't know how much to appreciate this until our multi-hour layover in Atlanta where the overheard noise never stops). We got a quick breakfast, got on the plane and look forward to perhaps returning some day.
Aalborg airport is super easy to find your way around. You get through security quickly and the airport offers many different travel destinations. There is good public transport from the area, bus, train and taxi. Parking is also cheap here, DKK 20 per day. It is a small but efficient airport and I would like to give them 5 stars.
Aalborg Airport (AAL) serves as a key international gateway for northern Denmark, particularly the North Jutland region. Located near the city of Aalborg and the adjacent town of Norresundby, the airport handles a mix of scheduled European flights, charter services, and seasonal connections. Its position near the Limfjord makes it a convenient access point for both business travellers and tourists exploring the area, including the nearby coastal resorts and the Lille Vildmose nature reserve. The airport is relatively compact, which facilitates efficient passenger movement between check-in, security, and gates.
Aalborg Airport offers a range of services to assist passengers. The terminal is equipped with wheelchair-accessible facilities, including a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilets, ensuring ease of movement for travellers with reduced mobility. A designated changing table is available in the restrooms, a practical feature for families with infants. Baggage storage is provided on-site, allowing passengers to store luggage securely for short or extended periods. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the terminal, enabling travellers to stay connected. Standard toilets are available, and the airport maintains cleanliness in these areas. For those arriving by car, a paid parking lot operates directly at the airport, with both short-term and long-term options.
The airport is not open every day of the week; it operates according to a schedule that reflects flight demand. Peak hours typically occur at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, when passenger flow is highest. It is advisable to arrive well in advance if travelling during these times, as queues at check-in and security may be longer. The terminal generally opens limited hours daily, with doors timed to coincide with departing flights. For exact opening times on specific days, passengers should verify directly with the airport, as schedules can vary seasonally.
For general inquiries, the airport can be reached by telephone at +45 98 17 11 44. The official website, https://www.aal.dk/, provides comprehensive information on flight schedules, parking fees, and terminal services. The website also offers details about transport connections to Aalborg city centre and surrounding areas, including bus and taxi options. The airport’s customer service team can assist with questions regarding accessibility, lost property, and special assistance requirements.
Aalborg Airport is one of the busiest airports in Denmark outside the Copenhagen area, functioning as a vital link for business and leisure travel in the region. It supports both domestic and international routes, with airlines offering year-round services to major European hubs such as Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and London, as well as seasonal sun destinations. The airport also handles general aviation and cargo operations. Its proximity to Aalborg University and several industrial zones makes it a important asset for the local economy. The airport's location on the north side of the Limfjord provides easy access for travellers from both Aalborg and Norresundby, as well as from more distant parts of North Jutland. The modest size of the terminal means that walking distances are short, reducing the need for lengthy transfers within the building. Security procedures are standard for European airports, with typical wait times influenced by the passenger load during peak periods. The airport continues to invest in infrastructure improvements to accommodate growing traffic while maintaining efficient operations.
Given the limited hours of operation and the peak periods at 2 PM and 4 PM, passengers planning to travel from Aalborg Airport should check flight schedules carefully and aim to arrive at the terminal at least 1.5 hours before departure. The paid parking lot can be pre-booked online through the airport's website for convenience. For those using public transport, buses from Aalborg central station run frequently to the airport, and taxis are readily available. The airport's compact layout means that once through security, passengers will find a small selection of shops and cafés, though facilities are proportionate to the terminal's size. The availability of wheelchair-accessible services and a changing table underscores the airport's commitment to inclusivity. Overall, Aalborg Airport provides a straightforward, no-frills travel experience suited to its role as a regional hub.
