Small but very convenient airport. Everything is compact and easy to find, and the rental car desks are right nearby. Perfect for a quick and smooth travel experience
Thank you for your review. Happy to hear you had a good travel experience:)
Torp Airport is small, clean and very well organized but don't be fooled by the "Oslo" in the name, because it's not that close. It takes around 1h20 by car to reach the city. If you're renting a car, the rental offices are easy to find, right after the parking area on the left. Pro tip: check your transport options before landing. Sometimes a round-trip taxi is more expensive than just renting a car. Airport-wise, everything works smoothly. The staff is really friendly and helpful, and you'll find cafes, basic services, and all you need for a comfortable transit. No chaos, no stress, just efficient Scandinavian organization. Small, but well run.
Very clean and small. There is a shuttle right outside of the exit that will take you to the Torp train stop for free! We got the tickets in the machine available inside the airport next to the exit and it all went super smoothly.
Gets the job done, but low cost it is not. You do not have the same quality or quantity of facilities of Gardermoen, but you charge prices like you do. You don't even try and sell original Apple products, just some cheap replicas for twice the high street price. Having to walk across an improvised bridge over and around local flooding at the gate to climb inbuilt stairs for the same money to use a skybridge at Gardermoen. Unless it was a dire emergency (and this time it was,) I would not use this airport again.
Sandefjord Airport Torp (IATA: TRF) is one of Norway's key regional airports, situated in the Vestfold county. While Oslo Gardermoen handles the bulk of international traffic, Torp serves as an important alternative for travellers heading to the Oslo region and southern Norway. The airport is a hub for low-cost carriers such as Ryanair and Wizz Air, offering connections to numerous European cities, as well as seasonal charter flights to Mediterranean and other holiday destinations. With its manageable size, Torp is known for efficiency and ease of navigation, making it a practical choice for both leisure and business travellers.
Torp Airport is located approximately 8 kilometres (5 miles) northeast of Sandefjord city centre and about 110 kilometres (68 miles) south of Oslo. The airport sits just inland from the Skagerrak coast, near the western shore of the Oslofjord. Its position makes it a gateway not only to the Vestfold region but also to the wider southern Norway area.
By Car: The airport is easily reached via the E18 motorway, the main road connecting Oslo to the coastal towns. Ample paid parking is available directly in front of the terminal, with both short-term and long-term options. The car park is wheelchair-accessible, and designated spaces for disabled travellers are clearly marked.
By Bus: The most popular public transport option is the Torpekspressen airport bus, which operates direct services between Torp and Oslo bus terminal (at Oslo Central Station), as well as connections to neighbouring cities like Tønsberg and Larvik. The journey to Oslo takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Buses are timed to coincide with flight arrivals and departures.
By Train: There is no direct rail link to the terminal. For train travel, passengers can take a bus from Torp to Sandefjord station (approximately 10 minutes) or Tønsberg station (about 20 minutes), where regional and intercity trains connect to major cities including Oslo, Skien, and Kristiansand. The combined bus and train journey is a viable option for those based along the Vestfold line.
Taxi and Ride-hailing: Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall. Pre-booking is recommended, especially during peak hours (typically mid-afternoon around 2 PM and 3 PM). Ride-hailing services like Uber have limited presence in this region; local taxi companies are more reliable.
Despite its compact size, Sandefjord Airport Torp provides a range of facilities designed to ensure a comfortable experience. The following amenities are confirmed:
Accessibility: The airport is committed to accessibility. Features include a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilets. Wheelchair rental is available for passengers with reduced mobility, ideally arranged through your airline in advance. The terminal has level access and wide corridors.
Baggage Storage: For travellers wishing to explore the region without luggage, baggage storage is available on-site. This is particularly useful for those with layovers or early arrivals before hotel check-in.
Wi-Fi: Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided throughout the terminal, allowing passengers to stay connected. The network is free and does not require a password in most cases; look for the airport's SSID.
Toilets and Baby Changing: Clean, well-maintained toilet facilities are located in both the departures and arrivals areas. A baby changing table is available for families with infants.
Parking: The paid parking lot is conveniently located just steps from the terminal entrance. Rates vary for short stays and long stays; it is advisable to book online in advance for the best rates.
Other Services: While the airport does not boast the retail sprawl of a major hub, it offers essential services including a café for snacks and drinks, and a small shop for travel necessities. ATMs and currency exchange may be limited, so plan accordingly.
Sandefjord Airport is the aerial gateway to the Vestfold region, an area rich in maritime history and natural beauty. Vestfold is famous for its whaling heritage; Sandefjord was once the world's leading whaling port in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This legacy is celebrated at the Whaling Museum (Hvalfangstmuseet) in Sandefjord, a must-visit for history enthusiasts.
Beyond Sandefjord, the region offers a stretch of coastline along the Oslofjord with charming seaside towns like Tønsberg (Norway's oldest city), Larvik, and Horten. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills, lush farmland, and rocky shores. In summer, locals and tourists flock to the many sandy beaches, such as those at Nødtangen and Sandefjord's Råde area. The Vestfold Hills are popular for hiking and cycling, with marked trails winding through forests and along the fjord.
The area is also a gateway to the Skagerrak strait and beyond, with ferry connections from Sandefjord and Larvik to Denmark (Hirtshals). Moreover, the airport's proximity to Oslo makes it a convenient alternative for visitors heading to the capital, especially during peak travel seasons or when Gardermoen is congested.

The busiest periods are typically mid-afternoon, peaking around 2 PM and 3 PM, when many departures are scheduled.
Accessibility Assistance: Travellers requiring special assistance should contact their airline at the time of booking. The airport provides wheelchair rental and has accessible facilities throughout.
Currency and Banking: Currency exchange services are not confirmed at the airport. It is recommended to withdraw Norwegian kroner from ATMs before arriving or use credit/debit cards, which are widely accepted in Norway.
Luggage: Baggage storage is available, making it easy to make the most of a layover or explore the area hands-free. Rates are moderate, and the facility is located in the arrivals area.
