Airport is quite .They only open when flight arrive . Dnt buy sime card from Aero shop .he ripped u off by charging 3riple thr price.. if u can manage to reach the city and buy sim card from there its better and cheaper with more data .. Car rental guys they always want u to buy direct from them and charge you extrasss dirhams if u dnt have reservation ..always make vidoes because cars r fully scratched but still they give u hard time to look arounf the car. Always book your car online and with big companies. Budget service is good at this airport ... there counter is open for most of the time .rest all other companies only opens when flights arrive ... Taxi fare is written outside on taxi stand board.not alot of taxis so they want you to pay them extra . I hope my review help those whom trying to visit Essaouira in future ... good luck
Fabulous little airport where you can travel stress free! Everyone was nice. What a pleasure! Car rental and parking lot just there. Easy security and passport control. Smooth checkin process.

Everything at this airport is manual and goes slowly. When flying with RyanAir, the ask for the printed boarding pass (in 2025!) and then stamp it. Even if you have no luggage you have to queue for this. RyanAir is specially annoying about the hand luggage. In the waiting area, there's a smoking area and it has NO DOOR separating it from the waiting area so basically everything smells like smoke.
Essaouira Mogador Airport (IATA: ESU) is the principal air gateway to the historic Atlantic coast city of Essaouira and the surrounding region of western Morocco. Classed as an international airport, it serves a mix of scheduled low-cost carriers and seasonal charter flights, primarily from European cities such as Paris, London, Brussels, and Madrid. The airport is relatively compact, reflecting the tourism profile of Essaouira as a destination for cultural and leisure travellers, surfers, and wind sports enthusiasts. Most traffic arrives during the warmer months, with peak passenger flows around midday and early evening.
Mogador Airport lies approximately 15 kilometres (9 miles) south-west of Essaouira's city centre, just off the R207 regional road. It is well signposted, and the drive typically takes 20–25 minutes by car or taxi. The airport also serves the nearby towns of Diabat, Sidi Kaouki, and the argan‑oil producing hinterland. For travellers heading further south, the road to Agadir (about 170 km) begins near the airport.
Getting to and from the airport:
Though small, the airport provides essential services for passengers. All confirmed amenities are accessible and well‑maintained.
The airport does not have a business lounge or duty‑free shopping; passengers should plan accordingly. ATMs are located in the arrivals hall (Bank of Africa and Attijariwafa Bank), but it is advisable to carry some cash for taxis and small purchases.
Essaouira is a UNESCO World Heritage‑listed city famed for its 18th‑century fortified medina, vibrant arts scene, and strong Atlantic winds that make it a global hub for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The city’s port is a working fishing harbour where daily catches are auctioned, and the surrounding coastline offers long sandy beaches backed by argan tree groves. Inland, the region produces Morocco’s prized argan oil, often extracted by women’s cooperatives that welcome visitors.
Tourism is the economic mainstay, with visitors drawn to the city’s relaxed atmosphere, annual Gnaoua World Music Festival, and numerous galleries and craft workshops. Mogador Airport therefore plays a vital role in connecting this relatively remote part of Morocco with Europe and other international markets.
Tips for a smooth journey:
Essaouira Mogador Airport offers a straightforward, no‑frills experience that matches the unhurried character of the region it serves. With clear signage, accessible facilities, and a friendly, manageable size, it provides a pleasant introduction to Morocco’s Atlantic coast.
