Busiest on Mondays around 9 am — usually busy.
Security is terrible. With 2 flights at the same time nothing was made to hurry that step. People arrived on time to the aeroport, the plane was there, boarding was on time but we had to wait because people were stucked in security. Just surreal. There were 5 flights all day and 2 were at the same time. Just no sense.
Small, regional airport, no bar as such or duty free offering. Very nice monument to the Michelin history, including a 1 metre square of the original hard runway, (first in the world!), beneath the aircraft.
Nice little local airport. While it is small it has all the expected conveniences (a restaurant, taxi booking service, car hire). Check-in and security queues are short, and there isn't to much walking to the departure gates. Staff are courteous. It's very clean.
Small airport that serves Clermont Ferrand and other neighboring cities, Fast check-in!
Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport (also known as Aulnat Airport) serves the city of Clermont-Ferrand and the wider Auvergne region in central France. Located about 7 km east of the city centre, it is a regional airport handling domestic and some European flights. The airport is a gateway for travelers visiting the Chaîne des Puys volcanic range, the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, and the Michelin headquarters (the company founded in Clermont-Ferrand). It primarily caters to leisure and business passengers, with connections to Paris-Orly and a handful of seasonal destinations. Despite its modest size, the airport is equipped with essential facilities to ensure a comfortable journey.
The airport offers a range of amenities designed to accommodate passengers with different needs. Based on confirmed information, the following facilities are available:
These amenities are spread across the terminal, and signage directs passengers to their locations. The airport does not advertise a children's play area or dedicated nursing room, but the changing tables indicate consideration for families.
Based on operational data, the airport experiences its busiest periods at 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. These morning hours likely correspond to the departure banks for flights to Paris and other destinations. Passengers travelling during these times should allow extra time for check-in, security screening, and boarding. The airport is quieter during the afternoon and evening. Since the airport is not open all days (likely closed on certain holidays or reduced hours on weekends), it is advisable to check the flight schedule and terminal opening times before arriving. The peak hours noted are based on general traffic patterns and may vary by season.
The airport is not open every day; it operates on a schedule that aligns with flight times. Typically, the terminal opens approximately two hours before the first departure and closes after the last arrival. Since the airport does not operate 24/7, passengers should verify opening hours on the official website or by calling ahead, especially for early morning or late evening flights. The peak hours (9 AM and 10 AM) indicate that the terminal is fully operational during the morning rush.
For up-to-date information on flight delays, cancellations, or changes in terminal services, passengers are encouraged to monitor the website or contact the airport directly.
Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport is accessible by car via the A71 motorway and local roads. On-site parking includes short-term and long-term options, with the wheelchair-accessible car park near the entrance. Public transport options are limited; a shuttle bus connects the airport to Clermont-Ferrand city centre, but schedules may be infrequent. Taxis and ride-sharing services are available at the terminal. Inside the terminal, the compact layout makes navigation straightforward, with all amenities within walking distance. Signage is bilingual (French and English).
