Its location is strategic, serving the entire metropolitan area of over 14 million people.

By Car or Taxi – Taxis and ride-hailing services are available at the arrivals level. A trip to central Shantou or Jieyang takes around 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic. Fares are metered or can be negotiated beforehand. There are also car rental counters in the terminal.

By Bus – Several airport shuttle bus lines connect the airport to Shantou, Chaozhou, Jieyang, and nearby counties. Buses depart from the ground transportation centre outside the arrivals hall. Frequency varies, but typically every 30–60 minutes during daytime hours. Tickets are purchased at the counter or from the driver.

By Public Transport – The Chaoshan Intercity Railway (a branch of the Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed line) has a station at the airport: Jieyang Chaoshan Airport Railway Station. It is located adjacent to the terminal, accessible via a covered walkway. High-speed trains link the airport to Shantou, Chaozhou, and further destinations like Xiamen and Shenzhen. This is often the fastest way to reach downtown Shantou (about 15 minutes) or Chaozhou (about 20 minutes).
