Worst airport experience I've ever had, staff moving very slow with long lines there was no sense of urgency. Older man with no hair was extremely rude I was on the 12:30pm flight to Brisbane 01/11/25 which got delayed- no issue there but as I have a connecting flight I need to make I asked him if he knew what time we would now get to Brisbane as it was delayed to 1pm but we were still waiting to board, he said "I don't know whenever the plane gets there". Not sure why he is working in customer service when he has no customer service skills and very unwilling help customers.
A cute little regional airport with a mix of indoor and outdoor open air sections of the terminal. I like the departures and arrivals areas that open up freely onto the outdoor courtyard, giving the airport a tropical feel similar to some of the Hawaiian island airports. While the airport is built perfectly for aircraft up to the dash-8 size, when larger aircraft like the Bonza 737-Max depart the security screened area is very crowded.
Happening place. Very big place . Takes awhile to find your way out. Very lovely
Nice little country airport. Not too crowded, but has all the essentials.
Bundaberg Regional Airport is a compact regional facility serving the city of Bundaberg and the surrounding Wide Bay-Burnett area in Queensland, Australia. It primarily handles domestic flights, connecting passengers to Brisbane and other key destinations within the state. The airport is used by both leisure and business travellers, with many visitors heading to the nearby Southern Great Barrier Reef, the Bundaberg Rum distillery, or the region's famous turtle rookeries. Despite its modest size, the airport provides a convenient gateway for those exploring this part of coastal Queensland. Airlines operating regular services include QantasLink and Alliance Airlines, offering multiple daily flights to Brisbane and occasional direct connections to other centres. The terminal is designed for efficiency, with check-in, baggage claim, and departure areas located within a single building. As a regional airport, it sees a steady but manageable flow of passengers, particularly during peak holiday periods when turtle-nesting season or local events draw additional visitors.
Bundaberg Regional Airport is situated approximately 6 kilometres west of Bundaberg's city centre, making it an easy and quick journey for travellers. The airport is accessible via the Bundaberg Ring Road, with clear signage from the Bruce Highway (National Route 1) and other major roads. For those driving, a well-maintained road leads directly to the terminal. Parking is available directly in front of the building, with designated spaces for accessible parking. Taxis and rideshare services such as Uber operate from the area, with a designated pick-up and drop-off zone outside the arrivals hall. Car rental desks are located within the terminal, with major providers including Avis, Budget, and Hertz, allowing visitors to explore the region at their own pace. For those relying on public transport, there are limited bus options; pre-booking a shuttle or taxi is often more practical. The airport's proximity to the city centre means that even without a car, reaching Bundaberg's accommodation and attractions is straightforward and affordable.
Bundaberg Regional Airport offers a range of practical amenities focused on passenger comfort and accessibility. The terminal is fully wheelchair-accessible, with an accessible car park, entrance, and toilets. A dedicated accessible toilet with a baby changing table is available, making the airport family-friendly. General toilet facilities are also located within the terminal. On-site services include a small café or kiosk (subject to operating hours) where passengers can purchase light refreshments and snacks before or after their flight. Shaded outdoor seating areas are provided near the terminal, and free Wi-Fi may be available—check with airport staff. While the airport does not have extensive shopping or lounge facilities, it meets the essential needs of regional travellers. Baggage trolleys are available, and the check-in counters are clearly signposted. The terminal is kept clean and well-maintained, with ample seating in the departure lounge. For passengers with specific requirements, airport staff can assist; it is advisable to contact the airport in advance for any special assistance needs.
Bundaberg is best known as the home of Bundaberg Rum, but the region offers much more to travellers. The city lies on the Burnett River and is surrounded by fertile sugarcane fields that have shaped its economy for over a century. To the east, the coastline meets the Coral Sea, providing access to the southern section of the Great Barrier Reef. This area is a premier destination for diving and snorkelling, with Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island offering pristine coral cays. One of Bundaberg's greatest natural attractions is Mon Repos Conservation Park, a vital nesting site for endangered loggerhead turtles. From November to March, visitors can witness turtles laying eggs and hatchlings making their way to the sea. Inland, the region features national parks such as Good Night Scrub and the Hummock, a volcanic peak providing panoramic views. The local food scene includes fresh seafood, macadamia nuts, and of course, rum-based products. Annual events like the Bundaberg International Tastes of the World Festival highlight its multicultural culinary offerings. Whether you're here for nature, history, or industry, Bundaberg serves as a rich base for exploration.
The airport is not open 24 hours; its operating times align with flight schedules. Typically, the terminal opens about two hours before the first departure and remains open until the last arrival. Passengers should confirm exact hours with their airline or check the airport's official website. The airport can be contacted by phone at +61 1300 883 699 or through the website at https://www.discoverbundaberg.com.au/bundaberg-regional-airport. For flight information, including arrivals and departures, the website provides real-time updates. Security screening is standard and efficient; arriving with ample time before your flight is recommended, especially during busy periods. The airport does not have a dedicated lost and found service, so items should be reported to your airline. Overall, Bundaberg Regional Airport offers a straightforward, no-fuss experience that reflects the warm, welcoming nature of the region it serves.
