Overall, really loved the airport and how lively and welcoming the staff are, however was not pleased how one staff who was operating the security screening was being quite rude. I understand it's early in the morning but just a simple smile wouldn't have made me so disappointed at how she treated us. I'm not one who gets upset that easily but just the demeanor and the way she spoke to us just made me feel like I shouldn't even be here? Was it the way I dressed? My race? My appearance? It seemed that nothing could have validated the way she could have treated us or needless to say, anyone. Mind u I barely had sleep and the last thing I want is hearing someone treat me like a dog. It says a lot about her treatment towards us to actually make me take the time and effort to put a review up and I've never had to make bad reviews before. Thank you to the kind ladies that work in check in and the cafe. Love you ladies for making us feel welcomed
Small, simple domestic airport. Everyone was lively and helpful but! The security clearance scanning is only open at set timings, so consider that before you get into the airport too early. There is a really nice cafe once you clear security but which is perfect for a cold beverage!
It is what you'd expect. A tiny airport that is simply facilitating minor flights and FIFO workers. There is a supermarket and petrol station in walking distance to get your caffeine/food hit.
Quality products that arrived on time. I have used Huntsman products many times over the years and can easily be contacted for advice on there products
Gladstone Airport (IATA: GLT) is a regional airport serving the city of Gladstone and the broader Central Queensland region. It primarily handles domestic flights, connecting this industrial hub to major cities like Brisbane, and occasionally to other Queensland destinations. The airport sees a mix of business travelers—many linked to the nearby mining, alumina, and port industries—and leisure passengers heading to the Southern Great Barrier Reef or other coastal attractions. The terminal is compact and functional, designed to efficiently process the steady flow of passengers without the sprawl of larger airports.
Gladstone Airport is situated approximately 6 kilometres (4 miles) southwest of the Gladstone city centre, along Aerodrome Road. It is easily accessible by road. For travellers arriving or departing, the following options are available:
Nearby cities include Rockhampton (about 100 km north) and Bundaberg (roughly 180 km south). The airport also serves the towns of Tannum Sands and Boyne Island, both popular for their beaches and proximity to the reef.
Gladstone Airport keeps its amenities practical and accessible for all passengers. Confirmed facilities include:
Note that the airport is not open 24 hours; it closes outside scheduled flight times. Always check the official website or your airline for the latest terminal hours.
Gladstone sits on the central coast of Queensland, about 500 km north of Brisbane. The city is a powerhouse of heavy industry, hosting one of the largest multi-commodity ports in Australia, with major exports of coal, alumina, and aluminium. The Gladstone area is also a gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Heron Island, a coral cay known for snorkelling and turtle nesting, lies about 80 km offshore and can be reached via helicopter or boat from Gladstone. Other natural draws include the Tannum Sands beach, a long stretch of patrolled sand, and the Boyne River for fishing and boating. Travelers often combine business trips with reef excursions, making the airport a vital link for both work and leisure.
For real-time flight information or to book parking, visit the airport’s official website. With its convenient size and essential services, Gladstone Airport provides a stress-free start to any journey in Central Queensland.
