There's no regular Cafe, there's no wifi, there're nothing excel of chairs of waiting room.
About this place I can talk only negatives (despite my hometown) My flight is frequently here, every time I want to say my feedback but no way. All I hate here there's NO RESPECT for passengers, customer service on the 0% level, Airport cooperators are seems me like worry of their life, waiting area smells with foul, border policeman act you like stupid with dump questions. It's so horrorfull and shame for the region, I think the worst airport in the country. since - 1950 significantly still no changes. That feeling when airplanes are so sorry for the airport! I hope that everything will changed in this year....(2018)
Currently closed. I had a hard time getting to my hometown with the airport being closed I had to fly to a different city and take a taxi home.
Andijan International Airport (IATA: AZN) serves as the primary air gateway to Andijan, one of Uzbekistan’s major cities and a key economic centre in the densely populated Fergana Valley. Though classified as an international airport, its operations are predominantly domestic, connecting the valley with the capital Tashkent and occasionally with other regional hubs. The airport is used by business travellers, local residents visiting family, and a growing number of tourists exploring Uzbekistan’s Silk Road heritage. Given the valley’s distance from Tashkent (roughly 350 kilometres by road), air travel offers a convenient alternative to the long drive or train journey, especially for those on tight schedules.
Andijan International Airport is situated about 6 kilometres southeast of Andijan’s city centre, along the road leading towards the Kyrgyz border. The airport’s location places it within easy reach of several important cities in the Fergana Valley: Fergana (approximately 75 km west), Namangan (about 100 km northwest), and Osh in Kyrgyzstan (roughly 50 km east, though the border crossing adds time). The surrounding landscape is defined by the fertile Fergana Valley, ringed by the Tian Shan and Pamir-Alay mountains. Access to the airport is primarily by road. Taxis are abundant in Andijan and offer the most straightforward transfer to the city centre, with a journey time of around 15–20 minutes. Private cars can use the on-site parking, which includes designated wheelchair-accessible spaces. Public buses also serve the route from the city to the airport, though they may be less frequent for early or late flights. For those arriving from neighbouring countries, the airport is a practical entry point for exploring the valley’s bazaars, mosques, and mountain scenery.
Andijan International Airport is a compact facility, but it provides essential amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for passengers with reduced mobility and families. Confirmed facilities include:
The terminal is modest in size, with a small check-in hall and a waiting area. There is no large duty-free shop or premium lounge, but a basic café may be available for snacks and drinks. Given the airport’s domestic focus, facilities are straightforward, focusing on efficiency rather than luxury. Passengers are advised to arrive at least one hour before domestic flights to allow time for check-in and security.
Andijan sits at the heart of the Fergana Valley, a region often described as the “breadbasket” of Central Asia. The valley is one of the most fertile and densely populated areas in Uzbekistan, known for its cotton fields, orchards, and sericulture (silk production). The city itself has a history stretching back over two millennia, once a key stop on the Silk Road. Nearby sites include the Jami Mosque (19th century) and the Babur Museum, dedicated to the founder of the Mughal Empire, who was born in Andijan. Travellers come to the region for its authentic Uzbek culture, bustling bazaars (such as the nearby Andijan Bazaar), and access to the surrounding mountains for hiking and rural tourism. The airport serves as a logistical hub for people visiting family, attending business in the valley’s light industries, or transiting to other destinations in Uzbekistan. The climate is continental, with hot summers and cold winters, so the best travel periods are spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October).
In summary, Andijan International Airport is a no-frills facility that efficiently connects the Fergana Valley to the rest of Uzbekistan and beyond. Its modest size means shorter queues and easier navigation, making it a stress-free starting point for exploring one of Central Asia’s most culturally rich regions.
