Dnipropetrovsk's airport is small but functional. I thought the staff was friendly and I had no problems whatsoever.
Old airport with no toilet on the first floor. Hopefully soon will be rebuilt. But all the stuff is helpful
Don't fly to/from Dnipro in fall-winter. The airport is simply unable to operate flights under even a slight weather disruption. Fog, snow, rain, or simply - 1degC - flights are immediately cancelled. And the way the airport and local airlines handle such situations is the worst you can imagine: no information provided, no mitigation actions are undertaken, no comfort offered for awaiting passengers. Unless you take initiative to find your own way around, to solve the issue, you will be left alone as a passenger because no airport staff will attend to you. Out of a dozen or so flights to/from Dnipro that I ever have had to take during fall-winter season, none of them went smoothly! The airport administration, if at all being interested in improving the quality of their service, should seriously invest in a proper runway maintenance system and in client-oriented policies. P.S. Worth mentioning that the staff at check-in and security check are fantastic! Always kind, helpful and understanding. Why cannot the same attitude be spread over all other airport services?
Dnipro International Airport (IATA: DNK) serves the city of Dnipro, one of Ukraine's largest cities and a key industrial and cultural center in the eastern part of the country. The airport handles both domestic and international flights, connecting the Dnipro region to destinations across Europe and beyond. It features a single terminal building that accommodates both departures and arrivals, with facilities designed to meet the needs of modern travelers. Despite recent regional challenges, the airport remains an important infrastructure asset for the area, supporting business travel, tourism, and cargo movements. Its role as a gateway to the industrial heartland of Ukraine makes it a vital hub for passengers traveling to and from the Dnieper River basin.
Dnipro International Airport is located approximately 15 kilometers southeast of Dnipro city center, near the village of Aviators'ke. The airport sits on the right bank of the Dnieper River, surrounded by the flat, fertile steppe landscape typical of eastern Ukraine. Travelers can reach the airport by car via the M04 highway, which connects Dnipro to other major cities. Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available from the city, and marshrutkas (minibuses) provide a more budget-friendly option, with routes connecting the airport to the central bus and train stations. For those driving, the airport offers a wheelchair-accessible car park. The airport's proximity to the Dnieper River means that passengers can enjoy views of the water and surrounding green spaces during the approach. Nearby cities include Zaporizhzhia (about 85 km south), Kharkiv (215 km northeast), and Kryvyi Rih (140 km west), making the airport a convenient access point for the broader region.
Dnipro International Airport offers a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for all passengers. Confirmed facilities include:
In addition to these confirmed amenities, the airport typically provides essential services such as check-in counters, security screening, and baggage claim. Travelers should note that food and beverage outlets, shops, and currency exchange may be available but vary based on operational hours and conditions. It is advisable to bring snacks and essentials if traveling during off-peak periods.
The Dnipro region, centered around the city of Dnipro, is a major economic and cultural hub in eastern Ukraine. The city lies along the Dnieper River, one of the longest rivers in Europe, which has historically been a vital transportation route and source of hydroelectric power. The area is known for its heavy industry, including metallurgy, machine building, and aerospace manufacturing—the Yuzhmash rocket plant is a notable facility. Culturally, Dnipro is home to several universities, theaters, and museums, as well as the historic Dnieper Rapids, which were once a major obstacle for river trade. Travelers often visit the region for business conferences, industrial trade, or to explore the natural beauty of the Dnieper River and nearby steppe landscapes. The city also has a vibrant culinary scene, with restaurants serving traditional Ukrainian dishes like borscht and varenyky. Because of its central location, Dnipro serves as a transit point for travelers heading to other parts of Ukraine, including the Carpathian Mountains to the west or the Black Sea coast to the south.
Dnipro International Airport does not operate all days of the week; peak hours are observed around 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, suggesting limited flight schedules during those windows. Passengers should verify exact hours of operation before planning their visit, as they may change due to seasonal demand or regional circumstances. The airport can be contacted by phone at +380 67 632 4538 for inquiries about flights, facilities, or accessibility. While a dedicated website is not listed, general information may be available through the Dnipro city council or Ukrainian aviation authorities. Travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours before a scheduled departure to allow sufficient time for check-in and security procedures. Given the airport's role in an active region, it is wise to check for any travel advisories or security updates prior to departure.
