Small but efficient airport offering convenient access to the northeastern region of Thailand. The facilities are clean and well-organized, with basic amenities like cafes, souvenir shops, and car rental services. The staff are helpful, and the airport handles domestic and a few international flights smoothly. It's easy to navigate, making it a stress-free experience for travelers.
Friendly, no fuss, all services available, ease of checking in. We were very graciously welcomed, checked in & helped by the check In staff st Vietjet counter. Assorted restaurants offering good & beverages. 3 ATMs on the floor.
Very busy lots of flights. It's a nice clean airport with good facilities. They have built more parking space for longer stays at lower prices. Flights are mostly delayed, so advice picks up drivers. It's a lot more busy now. Pick-ups can be harder as they move you on
Has improved a lot over the last 5 years, spacious, food choice and sanitary.
Udon Thani International Airport (UTH) is an international airport located in Mueang Udon Thani District, in the northeastern region of Thailand known as Isaan. The airport serves as a key transport hub for both domestic travellers heading to popular destinations such as Chiang Mai, Bangkok, and Phuket, as well as international tourists visiting the province or connecting to Vientiane in Laos, located about 50 kilometres to the north. The airport is operated by Airports of Thailand (AOT) and handles a mix of scheduled commercial flights from carriers like Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, and Thai Lion Air. Given its role in a rapidly growing region, the airport provides essential connectivity for business travellers, tourists exploring Isaan’s cultural heritage (including the UNESCO-listed Ban Chiang archaeological site), and locals travelling abroad.
Udon Thani International Airport offers a range of on-site services designed to make the passenger experience smooth and comfortable. The terminal includes toilet facilities with wheelchair-accessible options, as well as baby changing tables for families travelling with infants. A baggage storage service is available on-site, allowing passengers to securely stow their luggage for a few hours or longer. For those with mobility needs, the airport features a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilets, ensuring ease of movement throughout the terminal. While specific retail or dining options are not detailed here, typical amenities found in similar-sized Thai airports include convenience stores, snack bars, and small souvenir shops. Passengers should note that the airport is not open 24 hours a day; it operates according to fixed hours, so planning arrival and departure times accordingly is advisable.
The airport provides both free and paid parking lots. The free parking lot offers an economical option for short stays, while the paid parking lot may be more convenient for longer trips or when additional security is desired. Both lots are wheelchair-accessible. For passengers with disabilities, the airport’s infrastructure includes level access at entrances, wide pathways, and accessible toilet cubicles. Should assistance be required, it is recommended to contact the airline or the airport in advance to arrange support.
According to available data, the airport experiences its busiest periods around 7 pm and 6 pm each day. During these hours, security lines and boarding gates may be more crowded, so passengers are encouraged to arrive well in advance of their flight. The airport is not open every day of the week, or may have reduced hours on certain days; travellers should verify the current operating schedule before heading to the airport, especially for very early or late departures.
