They have a decent-sized lot for overnight parking, which is separate from the short-term parking lot. The overhead gate directions are a bit confusing, since there's a common walkway between arrival and departure passengers, but there are staff that will point you where to go. There are food and souvenir stalls in the departure lounge, as well as neat comfort rooms with a dedicated diaper changing area and a powder area. Comfort rooms are equipped with bidets and sensor-enabled sinks with soap dispensers. There's a kiddie traveller lounge at the far end which is a small playground where the kids can spend time. There's also an automated massage area near the VIP lounge where a 30-minute massage costs P98.

Good decision to have this new airport for Bicol Region. Love the architecture and of course, one of the unbeatable views of Mt. Mayon - the only experience you will have before your flight. We flew to Manila via Philippine Airlines! The departure area also has many dining and shopping options.

Bicol International Airport (IATA: DRP) is the primary air gateway to the Bicol Region in southern Luzon, Philippines. Located in the municipality of Daraga, Albay, this modern airport serves both domestic and international flights, connecting the region to major hubs like Manila and Cebu, as well as select international destinations. It replaced the older Legazpi Airport, offering expanded capacity and improved facilities to handle the growing number of travellers visiting Bicol’s famous attractions. The airport's single terminal is designed to handle a significant volume of passengers efficiently, with a focus on comfort and accessibility.
The airport is situated approximately 10 kilometres west of Legazpi City, the capital of Albay province. Its location in Daraga places it within easy reach of several key areas in the region. Passengers can travel to and from the airport via private vehicles, taxis, or public transport such as jeepneys and tricycles. The drive to Legazpi City takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. The surrounding area is dominated by the iconic Mount Mayon, whose near-perfect cone rises dramatically to the south-east. Other nearby towns include Tabaco City (about 25 km north) and Ligao City (about 20 km west). For those heading to Donsol (famous for whale shark interactions) or the Caramoan Peninsula, the airport serves as a convenient starting point, with bus and van connections available from Legazpi.
Bicol International Airport provides a range of amenities designed to make travel easier and more comfortable for all passengers. The terminal is fully wheelchair-accessible, with designated parking spaces, an accessible entrance, and accessible toilets throughout. There are also baby changing tables available in the washrooms, making the airport family-friendly. For passengers needing to store luggage, baggage storage services are offered on-site – useful for those planning a short stopover or exploring the area before or after their flight. General amenities include clean toilets and basic waiting areas. While the airport is relatively compact, it includes a small food and retail selection (note: “On-site services” is confirmed, but specifics like shops and eateries may vary). Travellers should plan ahead for any special needs, as the airport’s services are streamlined yet functional.
The Bicol Region is a peninsula in south-eastern Luzon, known for its volcanic landscapes, pristine beaches, and rich cultural heritage. The centrepiece is Mayon Volcano, an active stratovolcano famous for its symmetrical cone shape. The volcano is a major draw for trekkers, photographers, and nature lovers. Beyond Mayon, the region offers diverse attractions: the whale shark encounter in Donsol (Sorsogon), the underground river in Cagraray Island, and the idyllic beaches of Caramoan. Bicol is also renowned for its spicy cuisine, with dishes like Bicol Express (pork cooked in coconut milk and chilli) and pinangat (taro leaves in coconut milk). The region’s economy is driven by agriculture (coconut, abaca, rice) and tourism, with Bicol International Airport serving as a vital link for both leisure and business travellers.
