Busiest on Mondays around 10 pm — usually as busy as it gets.
Both the domestic and international airports are efficient and clean. I've flown from here several times and each experience has been smooth. The interior of the international terminal is impressive. However there aren't many chairs around the check-in counters. Immigration and security procedures were quick and hassle-free.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport is such a chill and modern spot It's clean, organized, and gives off that tropical Cebu vibe. The staff were super friendly, check-in was smooth, and there's plenty to eat and shop while you wait. One of the best airport experiences in the Philippines
Mactan-Cebu International Airport is one of the best airports in the Philippines! The terminals are clean, modern, and spacious, with plenty of seating areas and good air conditioning. The architecture of Terminal 2 is stunning--lots of natural light and a relaxing tropical vibe. Check-in and security were smooth during my visit, and staff were friendly and helpful. There are also several dining options and souvenir shops to choose from, though prices can be on the higher side. Wi-Fi is available, but it could be faster. Transportation to and from the airport is convenient, with taxis and Grab readily available, but be prepared for some traffic outside during peak hours.
Nice airport overall. It feels modern and clean, and way less stressful compared to Manila. Security and check in usually move faster than I expect. There are plenty of food spots and coffee shops while you wait for your flight. The international terminal especially looks spacious and well kept. Always a smooth experience flying in and out of Cebu.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is the primary gateway to the Visayas region of the Philippines, serving the city of Cebu on Cebu Island as well as the surrounding areas. As an international airport, it handles both domestic and international flights, connecting travellers to major cities across Asia and beyond. Located on Mactan Island in the municipality of Lapu-Lapu, the airport is a key transportation hub for business, tourism, and cargo in the central Philippines. The facility comprises two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 for most international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic and some international services. The airport is around 30 to 45 minutes by road from Cebu City centre, depending on traffic.
The airport provides a range of services to ensure a comfortable transit experience for all passengers. Confirmed amenities include:
Additional services not listed in the confirmed data but typically present at airports of this size include airport lounges (accessible via membership or day pass), free Wi-Fi (limited time or speed), and currency exchange counters. However, travellers should verify the availability and conditions of these services directly with the airport or their airline.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport does not operate 24 hours a day; it closes during certain hours. According to available data, the airport does not remain open all days, meaning there are periods when the terminals are shut. The peak hours are recorded at 11 pm and 10 pm, suggesting a concentration of flights during the late evening. Passengers should plan their arrival and departure times accordingly, especially if they have early morning or late-night flights. It is advisable to check with your airline for specific terminal operating hours and to avoid arriving too early when the airport may be closed.
For real-time flight information, terminal maps, and updates on services, the official website is the most reliable resource. The airport authority may also have social media accounts for announcements.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport is the second-busiest airport in the Philippines after Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. It serves as a major hub for Philippine carriers, offering numerous connections to destinations across the archipelago—from Manila and Davao to Palawan and Bohol. Internationally, it links Cebu to key Asian cities such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai, and Qatar. The airport's location on Mactan Island places it near popular tourist spots, including the historic Magellan's Cross, the Lapu-Lapu shrine, and diving resorts in Moalboal and Oslob. For business travellers, Cebu is a growing economic centre with a thriving BPO industry and manufacturing sector. The airport's continued expansion and modernisation aim to accommodate increasing passenger traffic and enhance the travel experience. Whether you are catching a connecting flight to a remote island or starting a holiday in the Visayas, having a clear understanding of the airport's amenities and schedule will help make your journey smoother.
