Busiest on Mondays around 5 pm — usually busy.
The staff were helpful, check in was quick and simple. The place was quite small and easy to find your way around. The toilets were clean. There were a few shops to look around, a bar, and a cafe, annoyingly the cafe is card only.
The airport itself is very good in terms of ease to flow through, location, parking and bus services. The real issue is the unhelpful syaff there the security team that are rude and generally really snappy. They need to understand that not all disabilities are visable and not all people can process written information and signage. Venting frustration at passengers isnt going to help anyone. I witnessed terrible treatment of a lady that couldn't understand the signs given its confusing enough add in a crowd and noise it must have been awful for her. Jersey airport do better
The airport is small with a few shops and cafe, however there is hardly anything to do when waiting for your flight. There used to be a free viewing deck to watch the planes go by. However they shut down the viewing place and made it PS30 to enter Thats a higher price then the average ticket to London gatwick
A really friendly and efficient airport. Easy to negotiate. Travelled Blue Island from Jersey to EMA. Even managed to pick up some Jersey Royals (new potatoes) on the way through.
Jersey Airport lies on the island of Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, about 5 kilometres west of the island's main town, St Helier. The airport handles roughly 1.5 million passengers per year, connecting the island to the UK and Europe. Its single terminal is compact, efficient, and designed for the short-haul routes that dominate traffic. Despite its modest size, the airport offers a full range of services, from baggage storage to accessible facilities, and parking on site.
Getting to and from the airport is straightforward, but understanding the options helps avoid surprises. The terminal sits just off the A12, a main road linking St Helier to the west of the island. By car, the journey to St Helier takes about 10 minutes, to St Brelade's Bay about 15 minutes. Taxis queue outside the arrivals hall and charge a fixed fare: roughly £15 to St Helier, £20 to St Brelade. Public bus route 15 runs from the airport to St Helier bus station every 30 minutes during the day, journey time 20 minutes, single fare £1.80 (contactless accepted). Renting a car is popular – desks from Avis, Hertz, and Europcar are inside the terminal. Note that Jersey has a maximum speed limit of 40 mph (64 km/h), and parking in St Helier can be expensive; the airport's own car park costs £1.50 per hour or £12 per day. For those being dropped off, a free 'kiss and fly' zone allows 20 minutes.
Inside the terminal, the experience is largely stress-free. Security is fast – typical wait times are under 10 minutes outside peak hours. The busiest periods are Monday at 5pm and Tuesday through Thursday around 3-4pm, so aim to arrive at least 90 minutes before departure then. The departures lounge has a limited selection: a WH Smith for newspapers and snacks, a Jersey-specific shop selling local produce and souvenirs, and a café/bar serving hot food, sandwiches, and drinks. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal – connect to 'Jersey Airport Wi-Fi' and accept the terms. For families, there is a small play area near Gate 3 and changing tables in both ground-floor and first-floor toilets. Wheelchair users will find level access throughout, automatic doors, and an accessible toilet. Baggage storage is located in the arrivals hall, operated by Excess Baggage Company – prices start at £5 per bag for 24 hours. Arrivals is straightforward: luggage carousels are clearly labelled, and customs is green or red channel (duty-free allowances apply). The airport is not open 24 hours; it typically opens at 5am and closes around midnight, but check with airlines for early flights.
St Peter, the parish where the airport is located, is one of Jersey's twelve parishes. It is a quiet, rural area with a population of about 5,000. The parish is known for its green lanes, ancient churches, and the historic La Hougue Bie, a Neolithic passage grave dating to 3500 BC – one of the best-preserved in Europe. Just a 15-minute walk from the airport is the Jersey War Tunnels, an underground complex built by German occupying forces during World War II, now a museum telling the island's story under occupation. The coastal path from St Ouen's Bay (10 minutes by car) offers walking and views of the Atlantic. For food, the nearby village of St Peter's has a few pubs and restaurants, including the Old Court House Inn serving seafood. The island itself is small – 9 miles by 5 miles – so the airport acts as a hub not just for travellers but also for freight, particularly Jersey's famous potatoes and dairy produce. The island has a distinct culture: a blend of British and French influences, its own language (Jerriais, spoken by a few hundred), and a mild microclimate that makes it a popular holiday destination. Attractions beyond the parish include the Durrell Wildlife Park, the Jersey Museum in St Helier, and the beaches of St Brelade. Most visitors come for walking, golf, or simply relaxation. The airport is the only commercial gateway, making it a crucial piece of infrastructure for the island's economy.
Practical information: The airport is open daily from approximately 5am to midnight, but not 24 hours. Contact +44 1534 446000 or visit www.jerseyairport.com. Book parking online for discounts – standard long-stay is £8 per day if pre-booked. For accessible travellers, the airport provides assistance if requested at least 48 hours in advance via the airline or the airport's special assistance number. Baggage storage is available for up to 30 days. There is a charging station for electric vehicles in the car park. One specific piece of advice: if you are flying out on a Monday afternoon, be at security by 4pm – the queues can back up to the check-in hall and you might miss your slot. Otherwise, Jersey Airport is a smooth operation that reflects the island's calm pace.
