Overview

Treviso Airport (TSF), officially known as Aeroporto di Treviso-Sant'Angelo and also named after the neoclassical sculptor Antonio Canova, is an international airport serving the city of Treviso and the broader Veneto region in northeastern Italy. While Venice Marco Polo Airport handles the majority of long-haul and full-service flights, Treviso Airport has established itself as a key hub for low-cost carriers, particularly Ryanair, which bases several aircraft here and operates a dense network of routes across Europe. The airport primarily caters to leisure travellers and budget-conscious tourists heading to Venice, the Prosecco wine hills, and the Dolomites. It is also used by some charter airlines and seasonal flights to Mediterranean destinations. Though smaller than Venice's main airport, Treviso offers a streamlined, efficient experience with a single terminal that handles both arrivals and departures. Passenger numbers have grown steadily over the years, and the airport continues to invest in infrastructure, including terminal expansions and improved accessibility.

Location & Access

Treviso Airport is located about 3 kilometres southwest of Treviso's city centre, and approximately 30 kilometres north of Venice. Its position makes it a convenient alternative for reaching not only Venice but also the towns of Padua, Vicenza, and the Prosecco-growing region of Valdobbiadene. The airport sits close to the A27 motorway, which connects to the A4 Turin-Trieste motorway, providing easy road access from Venice, Milan, and other cities.

By Bus: The most common way to reach Venice from Treviso Airport is via the ATVO express bus, which runs directly to Venice's Piazzale Roma (the main bus terminal at the entrance to the historic island centre). The journey takes about 50–60 minutes, depending on traffic. Buses also connect the airport to Treviso's central train station (Stazione FS), a short 10-minute ride. From there, regional trains run frequently to Venice Santa Lucia station (about 30–35 minutes), as well as to other cities like Padua and Belluno. Some buses also serve the nearby town of Mestre.

By Car: The airport has a paid parking lot (short-term and long-term options) directly in front of the terminal. Car rental agencies including Avis, Europcar, and Hertz operate from desks inside the arrivals hall. The airport is well signposted from the A27 motorway exit "Treviso Sud".

By Taxi: Taxis are available outside the arrivals area. A ride to central Treviso costs around €15–20, while a trip to Venice can range from €80–100.

By Bike: Treviso is a bike-friendly city, and the airport has bicycle parking racks near the terminal entrance. Cyclists can connect to the city's cycle paths.

Treviso Airport is compact but provides all essential facilities for passengers. The terminal is fully wheelchair-accessible, with a dedicated car park, entrance, seating areas, and toilets designed for mobility-impaired travellers. The airport offers free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal, allowing passengers to browse or work while waiting. There are standard toilet facilities, including baby changing tables in both male and female restrooms.

For luggage convenience, baggage storage is available inside the terminal operating daily. This is particularly useful for travellers who want to explore Treviso or take a day trip to Venice without lugging suitcases. Parking is paid, with both short-stay and long-stay lots. The long-stay lot is a short walk from the terminal, and rates are moderate compared to Venice Airport. Electric vehicle charging stations are not currently confirmed. The airport has ATMs and currency exchange, though the exchange rates may not be the most competitive.

Venice, only 30 kilometres away, is the region's crown jewel, with its canals, St. Mark's Square, and the Grand Canal. Treviso Airport offers a less congested, often cheaper gateway to Venice, especially for travellers staying in the city's mainland neighbourhoods like Mestre. The airport is open daily, but flight schedules typically operate between early morning and late evening; the terminal is closed overnight. Check your flight's timing well in advance, as the airport may open only a few hours before the first departure. Peak hours are generally in the early afternoon, around 2 pm and 3 pm, when many Ryanair departures are scheduled. Arriving at least two hours before a flight is recommended for budget carriers.
