Busiest on Mondays around 12 pm — usually as busy as it gets.
I understand that this is a small airport, therefore i wouldn't expect too much out of the business lounge. But the bare minimum requirements such as water or cleaning should be provided.
Can't really add much more to the existing reviews. Options are lacking, the prices are not. Would suggest adding another food vendor if possible serving food other than sandwiches/pizza, maybe making some additions to the airport lounge and keeping it stocked better. Disagree with the "airport is for flying" review. Travellers spend time waiting, they have needs such as food and drink. If they knew in advance that there would not be options then of course they would bring some. 3 stars due to how easy it is to arrive and depart. Definitely one of the better airports I've arrived/departed from in that sense.
He and his wife mostly use airports in nearby Italy. Of course, due to the much wider availability of flights and competitive prices. Trieste Airport is often among them. Today we flew here from Ireland. A car was waiting for us at the P8 parking lot. We paid EU62 for a good five days. Access to the parking lot is connected to the new overpass and it only takes 5 minutes to reach the airport building.
Small airport for TRA but with mainly Ryanair flights for domestic and international. ITA airways flies to Rome and Milano Linate.
Trieste Airport, also known as Aeroporto di Trieste – Friuli Venezia Giulia and commonly referred to as Ronchi dei Legionari after the municipality where it is located, is an international airport serving the northeastern Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is a key transport hub for the city of Trieste, as well as nearby towns such as Udine, Gorizia, and Monfalcone. The airport primarily handles scheduled and charter flights to major Italian cities and selected European destinations, including connections to Rome, Milan, London, and seasonal services to holiday spots. It is also used by general aviation and cargo traffic. Given its proximity to the Slovenian border, the airport serves as a convenient entry point for travelers heading to the Adriatic coast or exploring the Karst plateau and the Julian Alps.
The airport is situated approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) northwest of Trieste city center, near the town of Ronchi dei Legionari in the Province of Gorizia. It lies close to the A4 motorway, which connects Turin to Trieste and continues eastward into Slovenia. The airport is also accessible via the A34 and state road SS14.
By Car: The airport has ample on-site parking, including both paid parking lots and a valet parking service. The main parking area is within walking distance of the terminal. For those picking up or dropping off passengers, a short-stay parking zone is available directly in front of the terminal.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Trieste Airport station (actually named “Trieste Airport” on the Udine–Trieste line), which is connected to the terminal by a covered walkway. Regular regional trains run to Trieste Centrale, Udine, and other destinations along the Venice–Trieste corridor.
By Bus: Several bus lines connect the airport to Trieste, Gorizia, and Monfalcone. The Trieste Airport Shuttle (T.A.S.) operates a direct service to Trieste city center, timed to coincide with flight arrivals and departures. Additionally, regional bus services by APT Gorizia and other operators link the airport to surrounding towns.
Trieste Airport offers a range of passenger amenities confirmed to be available:
Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a region of diverse landscapes, from the Adriatic coast to the Carnic and Julian Alps. Trieste, the regional capital, is a historic port city with a rich Habsburg heritage, known for its elegant architecture (such as Piazza Unità d’Italia), the Miramare Castle, and its unique coffee culture—the city’s cafés are legendary. The region is also famous for its cuisine, including prosciutto di San Daniele, Montasio cheese, and local wines like Friulano and Refosco.
The Karst plateau, a limestone area with caves and sinkholes, offers hiking and the famous Grotta Gigante (Giant Cave). The nearby Adriatic coast features resorts like Grado and Lignano Sabbiadoro. For travelers, the airport is a gateway to both Italian and Slovenian destinations, with Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, just over an hour’s drive away. The region is also known for its UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the Patriarchal Basilica of Aquileia and the city of Cividale del Friuli.
