Best experience at this airport. Very friendly and helpful. Motorcycle rental is recommended - just take care while driving on the roads. I had to shift my flight by 2 days back and they even refunded me the motorcycle rental for the difference. Thanks for your amazing service and friendliness.
I dont know why but i just dont like how the staff handle the procedure. They cant identify my powerbank batteries and choose to destroy it. Fyi it pass the security of bandara ahmad yani and it is no problem.
The Jepara administration is hopeful that the new route will boost the economies of Karimunjawa and Central Java, and has called on its residents to support its efforts to expand tourism to the northern part of the regency.
Hi... I am trying to contact to the airport in order to have any information about getting tickets for a flight but they do not answer. Can anyone give me a hand with this? Text me in my google profile. Thanks
Dewadaru Airport (also known as Karimunjawa Airport) is a small regional airport serving the idyllic Karimunjawa Islands, part of Jepara Regency in Central Java, Indonesia. It primarily handles domestic flights from major cities on Java, such as Semarang and Surabaya, making it the main aerial gateway for tourists and locals heading to this tropical archipelago. The airport is modest in size, with a single runway and a compact terminal building designed to handle the relatively low volume of passengers that visit this remote destination. Given its regional status, flights are operated by small propeller aircraft, and the airport operates on a limited schedule, mainly during daylight hours. For those seeking a serene island escape, Dewadaru provides a convenient and scenic entry point.
Dewadaru Airport is situated on Karimunjawa Island, the largest island in the Karimunjawa archipelago. The airport is located approximately 2 kilometers southeast of the main town of Karimunjawa, making it easily accessible by road. The journey to the town center takes about 10 minutes by car or motorbike. Transport options upon arrival include taxis, ride-hailing services (where available), and hotel shuttle services, which can be arranged in advance. For those arriving by sea, the main ferry port is also nearby, but most visitors choose to fly due to the lengthy ferry journey from Jepara or Semarang. The nearest major city is Semarang, about 90 kilometers south as the crow flies, but the flight time is around 45 minutes. The airport’s location on the island means it is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and offers a glimpse of the pristine coastline upon approach.
Dewadaru Airport is a basic facility, reflecting its role as a regional hub for a low-traffic destination. The confirmed amenities include wheelchair-accessible toilets and standard toilets, located within the terminal building. Travelers should not expect extensive commercial services; there are no shops, restaurants, or ATMs available inside the airport. Given the small scale, passengers are advised to bring their own snacks and water, especially if they have a layover or are waiting for connecting transport. The terminal has a simple waiting area with seating, and the check-in process is typically quick due to limited passenger numbers. As the airport operates on a restricted schedule, it is essential to confirm flight times with the airline and arrive at least one hour before departure to allow for check-in and security procedures.
The Karimunjawa Islands are part of the Karimunjawa National Park, a protected marine area renowned for its exceptional biodiversity. The archipelago consists of 27 islands, with Karimunjawa Island being the most developed for tourism. The region is famous for its coral reefs, crystal-clear waters, and white sand beaches, attracting visitors interested in snorkeling, diving, and island hopping. The underwater world is home to vibrant coral gardens, sea turtles, and a variety of tropical fish. On land, the islands offer lush mangrove forests and traditional fishing villages where visitors can experience local Javanese culture. The climate is tropical, with a dry season from April to October, which is the best time to visit. The airport’s limited flight schedule is a direct reflection of the seasonal demand, with peak travel coinciding with school holidays and dry weather. Travelers typically come to relax on beaches like Tanjung Gelam, explore the famous Jurassic-era rock formations on nearby Menjangan Kecil, or visit the conservation area for reef sharks and rays.
Dewadaru Airport does not operate daily; flights are typically scheduled on specific days of the week, varying by airline and season. Peak hours are around 10 am and 11 am, corresponding to arrival and departure times of the main flights. The airport has no official website or published phone number, so passengers must rely on airline communications for schedules and updates. Booking tickets in advance is strongly recommended, especially during holidays. Upon arrival, travelers can exchange currency in the main town, as the airport lacks banking facilities. Given the limited services, it is prudent to carry cash (Indonesian Rupiah) for transportation and immediate expenses. The airport is small and generally uncrowded, but patience is advised during peak hours. Always check with your airline for the most current flight information before traveling to the airport.
