The airport is small but well maintained, which makes for a neat and organized experience. However, the food options are quite limited--only a few basic choices are available. When we tried to get coffee, we were told to wait for 10 minutes as they were out of milk, but the wait stretched to nearly 30 minutes. That was frustrating, especially since there aren't many alternatives to turn to. Another concern is that the arrival door closes in the evening, and passengers are asked to exit from the arrival lounge. This arrangement feels inconvenient and even unacceptable for families traveling with babies or elderly passengers. It's an area that really needs improvement, with better security and accessibility measures in place. Additionally, I was disappointed with Indigo Airlines not offering priority boarding for passengers with infants. Most airlines extend this courtesy as a basic gesture of care, and its absence here was frustrating. While the airport is tidy, these operational aspects could be improved to make the experience smoother and more considerable for travellers.
This review is more for awareness for tourists visiting Pondicherry for the first time. Upon arrival Uber and Ola Apps will work. The driver will come as usual BUT will NOT honour the price shown on the app. For instance Ola showed Rs.240.00, the driver came, loaded our luggage and then demanded Rs.1000.00. Obviously we were shocked and refused to pay. The driver offloaded our vehicle to add to the stress of senior citizens in our group. Please note, the police in the airport is in on this scam too and will do nothing to help you. Autorickshaws are available outside the airport gates who demand 500 and settle for 300 if you bargain. This issue of overcharging is not isolated to the airport either. Any Autorickshaw you take will charge a minimum of Rs.100 no matter how close the destination and you are totally at their mercy if you are not willing to bargain for longer trips. For a locality that is dependent on tourists, they are going down the way of Goa when it comes to taxis and autos. This put a dampner on our experience. If you want to rent a car with a driver, expect them to charge anywhere between Rs.350 to Rs.500 per hour. Or if you want to self drive, it will cost you about Rs. 3000.00 per day. PS: Pondi airport is tiny and has one little Kiosk that serves coffee, sandwiches, muffins, samosas etc. Do not expect much out of the airport. The prepaid taxi stand just outside the airport entrance was unmanned - conveniently so.

Flight canceled for a small rain and no options provided. One of the smallest airport I have seen and smallest aircraft I travelled so far. You wont find any refreshment spot inside apart from one small bakery set up.

Passengers may need to walk a short distance from the nearest stop on the main road.
