It's a very small airport with minimal infrastructure and amenities for passengers. Unlike bigger airports, it's not crowded which makes for a smooth and quick travel experience. Parking space is huge & convenient and the authorities are helpful and polite. Since it's located outside the city getting there takes some time very hard to get any taxis or shuttles from there. No food court or restaurants are available inside or outside. Overall, it needs a drastic makeover and we look forward to seeing more amenities added in the future.

Check-in and security procedures were quick and hassle-free--perfect for travelers who prefer less crowd and a calm environment. Staff were polite and helpful throughout the process. The waiting area is neat with basic facilities and seating available. The airport is ideal for short domestic flights, and it's amazing to see connectivity improving in the Salem region. This is a cute little airport with a lot of good things. Lets clear the baddie first Negative: This is not in SALEM but a few kilometers away from Omalur. Bus number 555 every hour goes from Salem new bus stand. It takes awful 50 minutes to reach for Rs 15/- (plan accordingly otherwise you'll be in trouble). You can also take bus number 80 or 64 from 5 roads which will drop at the entrance of airport from where you have to walk a bit. The bus will not keep up timing they say by 9, 10, 11AM etc but it's not guaranteed. The bus might come by 9:15 or 9:30 or 9:45 AM (this means you have to allocate an hour to waiting for the bus on top of travel time). Positives: The staff and security personnel are polite and in fact sweet. If you travel a lot they will recognize, and you can actually make friends. Everyone is so friendly and courteous. There is a canteen inside and another one just outside the gate. The place is clean and even the taxi drivers won't push you to get in. You can wait for the bus just right there in the parking lot. Flight rates are lower compared to Trichy or Coimbatore and you'll get better experience overall. Final verdict: Either allocate two hours for the bus or hire an auto and everything else will be a happy experience.
