Busiest on Mondays around 11 am — usually a little busy.
Small regional airport used mainly for charter flights to holiday destinations. Two gates, one small duty free and one bistro with bagels, sandwiches and great ice cold beer. Parking is 100 m from the terminal. Nice way of flying!
I watched the air show from the wires across the terminal. There are holes in some spots but I recommend the 90-120cm stairs. After parking the car, you need to walk a little. Bring your food and water with you. The event organizers are very nice, so I bought a ticket even though I did not enter the event area. Thanks again for the air show.
The small, modern airport is ideal for short-haul flights and is typically serviced by Ryanair and SmartWings. There is a free parking lot nearby and a public transport stop. There is one bistro before and one after the security check, in addition to the usual duty-free shop. The staff is young and fresh, and the airport atmosphere is relaxed.
One of the best airport I have ever been. Nice and cozy. Prices are low (bottle of water or coffee 20 ckr), there's even children room. No lines at all, we've passed security and passport checks in 2 minutes.
Thank you
Pardubice Airport serves as a small international gateway for eastern Bohemia, complementing the larger airports in Prague and Brno. It handles a mix of charter flights, seasonal leisure services, and occasional scheduled connections, primarily to Mediterranean destinations. The airport also accommodates general aviation and cargo traffic. While relatively low in passenger volume compared to Czechia’s major hubs, it offers a convenient alternative for travellers based in or near Pardubice, Hradec Králové, and the surrounding regions. Its compact size means shorter queues and a more relaxed experience, though the range of destinations is limited.
Pardubice Airport lies about 5 km southwest of Pardubice city centre, near the village of Popkovice. The city itself sits at the confluence of the Elbe and Chrudimka rivers, roughly 100 km east of Prague and 50 km south of the Polish border. The airport is easily reachable by car via the I/33 road (which connects to the D10 motorway) and local roads. Free parking is available on site, making driving a straightforward option. For those relying on public transport, Pardubice main railway station is about a 15-minute taxi ride away; the station has frequent train services to Prague (around 1 hour) and other regional centres. Local buses serve the nearby area, though the airport itself is not directly on a major bus route; a taxi or rideshare is the most practical connection. Cycling is possible but not recommended for luggage-laden travellers given the road conditions.
Despite its size, the airport offers a range of essential services. Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal, allowing passengers to stay connected. Baggage storage options are on site, handy for those with layovers or wishing to explore Pardubice without heavy luggage. The terminal includes standard toilets and is fully wheelchair-accessible: a designated car park, entrance, seating, and toilets meet accessibility needs. There are no on-site hotels or extensive shopping, but the free parking lot is a notable convenience. As the airport primarily handles departing and arriving passengers, dining is limited to a small café or vending machines; it is wise to bring snacks if needed. The check-in and security areas are compact, so processing times are generally short, but travellers should still arrive at least 60 minutes before departure for charter flights (refer to your airline’s advice for specific timing).
Eastern Bohemia is a region of gentle hills, castles, and historic towns. Pardubice itself is famous for its gingerbread (Pardubický perník) and for hosting the annual Great Pardubice Steeplechase, one of Europe’s oldest and toughest horse races, held every October. The city’s historic centre features a Renaissance-era castle, a picturesque square (Pernštýnské náměstí), and a well-preserved old town. The region is also known for the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj) area, with striking sandstone rock formations, fortresses like Kost Castle, and the town of Jičín. For travellers flying into Pardubice, the airport serves as a convenient starting point for exploring not only Pardubice but also nearby Hradec Králové (about 20 km north), Kutná Hora (famous for the Sedlec Ossuary, about 40 km west), and even the Krkonoše Mountains (Giant Mountains) for skiing or hiking, reachable in about an hour’s drive north. The region has a strong industrial heritage, notably in chemicals and engineering, but tourism is growing, especially for cultural and nature trips.
The airport is not open daily; its operating hours align with flight schedules. Peak hours tend to be around 9:00–10:00 am, likely corresponding to holiday charter departures. Before heading to the airport, confirm that flights are operating on your desired date. The official website (http://airport-pardubice.cz/) provides current flight information and contact details. The airport’s telephone number is +420 460 002 872. Since the terminal is small, the recommended check-in time is roughly 90 minutes before departure for charter flights, though some airlines may advise longer. There are no currency exchange facilities, but ATMs are available in the city. Parking remains free, which could be a significant saving compared to larger airports. If you are delayed, the city centre is close enough to explore on foot or by taxi during a short wait.
