Cade at the flight school was great with my kids. My oldest was doing an introduction to flight and he took him under his wing (pun intended) and really showed him the ropes. He had a great time and I'm hopeful Cade will still be here when he goes to flight lessons when he's older since he's too young to solo for a couple more years.
Emily was a great flight instructor to go up in a Cessna for an introductory flight. I took another passenger who rode in the back (and took lots of photos :). It is a very scenic flight, over Clearwater, anclote key, honeymoon island, and back. It really gave me an inspiration to begin my private pilots license. Photos dec 2019.
I surprised my son on his 10th birthday with a flight lesson! From scheduling all the way to landing after our flight, we had a great experience! The pilot was spot on in helping me show my aviation lover a good time! Would highly recommend for any age in taking a flight lesson or a tour down the Pinellas coast. Worth every penny!
Great facility nice people. Great location easy to get an Uber
Clearwater Executive Airport (IATA: CLW, ICAO: KCLW) is a general aviation airport located in Clearwater, Florida, on the state's Gulf Coast. Unlike Tampa International or St. Pete-Clearwater International, this airport does not handle scheduled commercial flights. Instead, it caters to private and business aviation, including charter flights, corporate jets, flight training, and recreational flyers. The airport is also known as Clearwater Air Park and is a popular entry point for travellers heading to the Clearwater Beach area and surrounding Pinellas County. With its proximity to the coast, it offers a convenient alternative to the larger commercial airports for those flying privately.
Clearwater Executive Airport is situated at 1000 N Hercules Ave, Clearwater, FL 33765, about 3 miles north of downtown Clearwater and roughly 2 miles east of the Gulf of Mexico shoreline. The airport lies just off U.S. Highway 19, a major north-south route along Florida's west coast, providing quick access to Clearwater Beach (10–15 minutes by car), St. Petersburg (20 minutes south), and Tampa (30 minutes east via the Courtney Campbell Causeway).
Getting to the airport is straightforward by car. Taxis, rideshares (Uber/Lyft), and rental cars are available. There is no direct public transit to the airport, though the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) operates bus routes nearby. For those arriving by private plane, the airport has a single asphalt runway (Runway 4/22) and a helipad. Parking is available for transient aircraft, and tie-downs are offered.
Clearwater Executive Airport provides essential amenities for passengers. The terminal building includes restrooms, and wheelchair-accessible facilities are clearly marked. Specifically, the airport offers:
These facilities ensure that passengers with mobility needs can navigate the airport comfortably. The airport also has a pilot’s lounge and a small waiting area. There are no on-site restaurants or shops, but vending machines may be available. Fuel services (100LL and Jet-A) are provided by the fixed-base operator (FBO), USA Jet Center, which also offers hangar space, aircraft maintenance, and concierge services for arriving passengers.
For those waiting, the airport has a covered picnic area outside, and the nearby city of Clearwater offers abundant dining and lodging options within a short drive.
Clearwater is a coastal city in Pinellas County, Florida, part of the Tampa Bay metropolitan area. The region is famous for its white-sand beaches, particularly Clearwater Beach, consistently ranked among the best beaches in the United States. The area attracts tourists for sunbathing, swimming, parasailing, and dolphin-watching cruises. Clearwater is also home to Pier 60, a popular fishing pier and sunset celebration venue, and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, known for its rescue and rehabilitation of marine animals.
Beyond the beach, the region offers cultural attractions such as the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, the Tampa Riverwalk, and Busch Gardens in Tampa. For business travellers, Clearwater is a hub for corporate headquarters, including tech firms and financial services. The airport's general aviation focus makes it ideal for executives who need quick access to the Tampa Bay business community without the congestion of larger airports.
The climate is subtropical, with warm, humid summers and mild winters. Peak tourist season runs from December to April, while summer brings afternoon thunderstorms. Hurricanes are a risk from June to November, and the airport may close during severe weather.
Clearwater Executive Airport is not open every day — hours vary. According to available data, busiest times are around 1 pm and 2 pm. For current operating hours and holidays, check the airport’s website or call ahead.
The airport does not have a dedicated passenger terminal for commercial check-in, as it serves general aviation only. Arriving passengers should arrange ground transportation in advance, as taxis and rideshares may not be immediately available at all hours.
For flight planning, the airport operates under a self-service fueling model at certain times. Pilots should confirm fuel availability before arrival. The airport is also used for flight training, so expect occasional instructional traffic.
