It's a very small but very functional airport with friendly people. Although the inside feels like a small bus station, it is actually an airport. We landed for the first time as a family, it was a very different experience. There are many transportation options outside: buses, minibuses, taxis and people who come to greet you. Even though it is a little out of town, it is very useful.
Nice and small airport. No smoking area.
Easy to find what you need. Small and useful as it should be. Not one of the unnecessarily large airports.
Arrival: very practical To reach Elazig city center just take Havas shuttle service. Only costs 26 TL (Sep2022) It has many stops. Just let the driver know where you want to go
Elazig Airport (EZS) serves the city of Elazig and the surrounding region in eastern Turkey. Situated near the Keban Dam reservoir and the Euphrates River, the airport is a key transport hub for both domestic travellers and those visiting the area's historical and natural attractions. The airport handles mostly domestic flights, connecting Elazig with major Turkish cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Its modern terminal building provides essential services for passengers, with a focus on accessibility and convenience.
Elazig Airport offers a range of amenities designed to accommodate all passengers. Accessibility is a priority, with a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilet available throughout the terminal. The airport also provides baggage storage facilities, allowing travellers to stow luggage securely for short periods. Clean, well-maintained toilets are available, including a dedicated changing table for families with infants.
Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the terminal, enabling passengers to stay connected while waiting for their flights. Note that Wi-Fi access may require registration or have time limits, but it is a complimentary service. For those needing assistance, the airport staff are available to help with mobility or information.
It is important to note that while the airport offers these amenities, it may not have extensive shopping or dining options. Travellers are advised to bring their own snacks or meals if they have specific dietary needs, as on-site choices could be limited. However, basic refreshments are typically available from vending machines or a small café.
Elazig Airport is not open 24 hours a day. It operates around flight schedules, meaning the terminal opens and closes based on departing and arriving flights. Peak hours are reported to be around 9 PM and 10 PM, likely corresponding to evening flight arrivals or departures. Outside of these times, the airport may be closed or have limited access. Passengers should check their flight times and plan to arrive accordingly, as the terminal may not be accessible for extended waiting periods.
Since the airport is not open all days, it is essential to verify that your flight operates on the day you intend to travel. Some smaller airports in Turkey have periodic service, so confirming with the airline or checking the airport's website is recommended.
For inquiries or assistance, passengers can contact Elazig Airport directly. The official website is maintained by the Turkish State Airports Authority (DHMI) and provides flight schedules, announcements, and additional services.
The phone line is available during operating hours for general questions, lost and found, or special assistance requests. It is advisable to call ahead if you require specific accommodations, such as wheelchair assistance or baggage storage details.
Elazig Airport is located approximately 12 kilometres east of the city centre. Transport options include taxis, which are readily available outside the terminal, and private transfer services. Public buses or shuttles may operate between the airport and the city, but schedules can vary. Renting a car is also an option for those wishing to explore the region, with car rental desks typically located in the arrivals area. The airport's proximity to the city makes it a convenient entry point for travellers visiting Elazig and surrounding provinces.
