Well maintained airport, bit small one, but can see new terminal work progressing rapidly. Beautiful surroundings area with fully green farming n trees.. Best way to reach from Bangkok to buriram, surin n nearby district. One of the best thing is noticed, there s shuttle service of airasia vehicle from surin to buriram airport, which is safe n economical too.. also crew will wait for this vehicle to reach before closing check in.. that's really convenient.
New but not a convenient airport. When you land here, you really need to have a plan how to get in the city. The airport have only one belt of luggage and only few flights available. The facilities are new and staff are lovely. However, if you rent the car, there are no gas station nearby(but I see the construction that might be future gas station)
A small airport with only 2 gates. Departure hall on the left side and arrival hall on the right side. Only one Black Canon restaurant and other shops serving both arrival and departure passenges. There isn't any bridge connecting to the aircraft. The plane just park outside and you just walk to the plane and climb up. Don't need any shuttle bus. Seem like only serve by Nok Air and Air Asia. The airport is old but well maintained.
A new terminal is almost finished. By then, the airport should be a complete international airport. There is no lounge or anything at the moment.
Buri Ram Airport (IATA: BFV) is a domestic airport serving the province of Buri Ram in northeastern Thailand. It plays a vital role for travellers heading to the Isan region, offering a convenient alternative to the longer road journey from Bangkok. The airport handles scheduled flights from Bangkok’s Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports, operated by airlines such as Nok Air and Thai Lion Air. Flight frequency varies by season, with peak hours typically around 1 pm and 2 pm, when multiple arrivals and departures are scheduled. Though small in scale, the airport is modern and well-maintained, catering primarily to leisure travellers visiting the province’s cultural sites and the growing number of motorsport enthusiasts heading to the Chang International Circuit.
Buri Ram Airport is situated in Satuek District, roughly 35 kilometres north‑west of Buri Ram city centre. The journey by car or taxi takes about 30 to 40 minutes, following Highway 2074 or Highway 218. The airport’s location serves as a convenient hub for reaching not only Buri Ram town but also the neighbouring provinces of Surin and Sisaket. For those driving, the airport offers a wheelchair‑accessible car park and an easy‑to‑navigate terminal forecourt. Public taxis and private vans are available outside the arrivals hall; fixed fares are common, so it is advisable to confirm the price before boarding. Rental car desks from several major companies are also present in the terminal, providing flexibility for travellers who wish to explore the region at their own pace.
The terminal at Buri Ram Airport is compact but offers essential amenities for a comfortable journey. The entire building is wheelchair‑accessible, including the car park, entrance, and toilet facilities. A designated wheelchair‑accessible toilet is available, along with a baby changing table in one of the restrooms – a thoughtful addition for families with infants. Baggage storage is offered on‑site, allowing passengers to stow luggage securely before heading out for a day’s sightseeing or while waiting for an onward connection. Standard toilet facilities are clean and well‑maintained. While the airport does not have a full‑scale restaurant, there is a small café and a convenience store in the departures area where travellers can buy snacks, drinks, and basic travel essentials. Free Wi‑Fi is available throughout the terminal, making it easy to stay connected.
Buri Ram province is steeped in history and culture, most famously home to the Phanom Rung Historical Park – a spectacular Khmer temple complex perched atop an extinct volcano. The sanctuary dates back to the 10th‑13th centuries and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The province is also renowned for its Muay Thai tradition, with many world‑class fighters originating from local training camps. In recent years, Buri Ram has become a motorsports destination thanks to the Chang International Circuit, which hosts MotoGP and World Superbike events, drawing international crowds. Football fans know the province for Buriram United, one of Thailand’s most successful football clubs, whose home stadium is in Buri Ram city. The region’s cuisine is another highlight, with spicy Isan dishes like larb, som tam, and grilled chicken widely available. The airport thus serves as a convenient entry point for both cultural tourism and sporting events.
Buri Ram Airport is open daily, though its operating hours align with flight schedules. The terminal typically opens two hours before the first departure and closes after the last arrival. Travelers should confirm their flight times and plan to arrive at least one hour before domestic departures. The airport is not open 24 hours, so passengers with very early or late flights should arrange transport accordingly. The official website (https://minisite.airports.go.th/buriram/) provides updated flight information and contact details. For enquiries, the airport can be reached by telephone at +66 44 666 334. The airport is operated by Airports of Thailand (AOT) and adheres to standard security procedures. For those flying out, remember that liquids in hand luggage must be in containers of 100 ml or less, placed in a transparent resealable bag. Overall, Buri Ram Airport offers a straightforward, hassle‑free travel experience that complements the unhurried charm of Thailand’s northeast.
