Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), also known as Katunayake International Airport, is Sri Lanka’s primary international gateway. The journey to central Colombo takes about 45 minutes to one hour depending on traffic, while Negombo can be reached in 15–20 minutes. By bus Public buses connect the airport to Colombo’s main bus terminals (Pettah and Bastian Mawatha) and to Negombo. The bus stop is just outside the terminal building. Buses are frequent and very affordable, though they can be crowded and luggage space is limited. Express buses also run to Colombo’s main train station at Fort, but the service is less regular.

By train The Katunayake Railway Station is about a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride from the airport. It lies on the coastal line that links Colombo to Puttalam.
