Busiest on Mondays around 4 pm — usually as busy as it gets.
I did not fly in or out of here, but I did stop to see the airport. It's small and has only smaller aircraft that service it. The parking lot is small, with lots and lots of vehicles parked by the side of the road outside the entrance. The terminal building is big enough to do the job, with a small concession stand, a gift shop and a travel agent. There are also public restroom facilities. I would have no problem using this airport. How about you?
Nice and clean airport makes the link to the most of the French islands in the Caribbean.
Great service. Sandrine was great. She made us an upgrade, came for the Pich-up at Ferry of SXP and took us to the ferry terminal of St Maarten. Highly recommendable.
Nice little airport with some very good paninis ! A pity that they have to deal with Air Antilles, the disaster airline of the Caribbean with zero consideration or respect for its high-paying customers ... but that's another story. The airport is cute.
Grand Case-Esperance Airport (IATA: SFG) is a small regional airport located on the French side of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin. It serves primarily inter-island flights, connecting Saint Martin with nearby destinations such as Saint Barthélemy, Guadeloupe, and other Leeward Islands. The airport is situated just outside the charming village of Grand Case, known for its restaurants and beach. Due to its short runway—approximately 2,200 feet—the airport handles only smaller aircraft, such as turboprops and light jets. This makes it a convenient alternative to the larger Princess Juliana International Airport on the Dutch side for travellers heading to the French quarter or staying in Grand Case.
Grand Case-Esperance Airport plays a key role in Saint Martin's regional air network, particularly for passengers connecting between the French overseas territories. It is also popular with private and charter flights. The airport's location on the northern coast offers scenic approaches over the sea and hills. Unlike the busy Princess Juliana Airport, Grand Case is quieter and more relaxed, with a small terminal and quick check-in procedures. It is primarily used by regional carriers like Air Antilles and St Barth Commuter, as well as private aviation.
The airport is not open every day, and its operating hours are limited, so passengers should plan accordingly. The busiest times at the terminal are around 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, when several flights arrive and depart.
Grand Case-Esperance Airport provides essential services for travellers. The terminal is equipped with accessible facilities: a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilet are available, ensuring ease of movement for passengers with reduced mobility. There is also a baby changing table in the restroom, making it family-friendly. On-site services include basic assistance and information. Note that the airport is small, and dining or shopping options are very limited or nonexistent within the terminal. Passengers are advised to bring their own snacks or eat in Grand Case before or after their flight.
According to operational data, the airport experiences its highest passenger traffic in the late afternoon, specifically at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. During these times, the terminal may be busier, and travellers should allow extra time for check-in and boarding. The airport is not open all days of the week; it operates on a restricted schedule. Confirmed days of operation are not specified in the available data, so passengers must verify flight times and terminal opening hours with their airline.

Grand Case-Esperance Airport is located on Route de l'Espérance, about a 10-minute drive from Grand Case village and 15 minutes from Marigot, the capital of the French side. Taxis are available outside the terminal, but they are not always plentiful; pre-booking is recommended. Rental car agencies can also be arranged through airlines or local providers. There is no public bus service directly serving the airport, so renting a car or arranging a private transfer is the most reliable option.
Given the airport's small size and limited schedule, plan ahead. Arrive at least 45 minutes before a regional flight, as check-in closes quickly. If you have a long layover or a delayed flight, be aware that the terminal has few amenities—head into Grand Case for restaurants and seating. The airport's charm lies in its simplicity, making it a stress-free gateway to the French side of the island.
