A new modern airport, stylishly decorated on the theme of cartographer Semyon Remezov. It is mostly empty for now, there are flights to St. Petersburg, Moscow, Surgut and Nizhnevartovsk. It is not clear why they limit the time in a half-empty parking lot and make parking for more than 15 minutes paid. This is a deterrent measure for a situation when there is not enough space for everyone who wants it, and here it is still very far from that. The city is far from the city of Tobolsk for local purposes - half an hour's drive.
I flew to Moscow and used the airport service, namely Pobeda Airlines. I was satisfied. The airport is new, modern, and at the same time comfortable and cozy, just like the city of Tobolsk. The employees do their job professionally and quickly. We took off on time at 6:00 and arrived in Moscow 13 minutes earlier. Thanks to those who insisted on the idea of creating an airport in Tobolsk.
Very cozy, cute, small regional airport. Like a chalet I love those airports where you can walk from the plane steps to the terminal building!
It turns out it's so small)))) but elegant!!!))) Completely new!) Of course, there are restrictions, the opening hours are shortened and we didn't get inside))) But we still put a tick in our tourist route)))) I'm attaching the opening hours for the November holidays in the photo. We got there by taxi, Avtoliga.
Aeroport Remezov is a regional airport serving the historic city of Tobolsk and the surrounding areas of Tyumen Oblast in western Siberia, Russia. Named after Semyon Remezov, a notable Siberian historian and cartographer, the airport plays a vital role in connecting this part of Siberia to major Russian cities. It mainly handles domestic flights, with regular services to Moscow and other key hubs, catering primarily to business travelers in the oil and gas sector, as well as tourists drawn to Tobolsk’s rich cultural heritage. The airport is relatively compact, designed for efficiency rather than scale, and offers a straightforward passenger experience.
Aeroport Remezov is located approximately 130 kilometers east of Tyumen city and about 20 kilometers northwest of downtown Tobolsk. The airport sits in the Irtysh River valley, surrounded by the flat, forested landscape typical of the West Siberian Plain. Access to the airport is by road only; there is no direct rail or public transit link. Taxis and ride‑hailing services are the most convenient options for travelers heading to or from Tobolsk city center. The drive takes roughly 25–30 minutes along the Tobolsk–Tobolsk Airport road. For those driving, a well‑marked route connects the airport to the P404 highway, which links Tobolsk to Tyumen and other regional centers. Car rental services are not available on‑site, so pre‑booking through agencies in Tobolsk is recommended. Some hotels in Tobolsk offer shuttle services for their guests; it is best to inquire at the time of booking.
Aeroport Remozov is a modest facility, but it covers the essential needs of passengers. The terminal is equipped with a wheelchair‑accessible car park and entrance, ensuring that mobility‑impaired travelers can navigate the building with relative ease. Inside, there are standard toilet facilities. The airport does not have a wide array of commercial outlets — there is no duty‑free shop, restaurant, or lounge — so passengers should plan accordingly, especially if they have a layover. Vending machines may be present, but it is advisable to bring snacks and water. Free Wi‑Fi is not confirmed; connectivity may rely on mobile networks. Charging stations for electronic devices are limited. The check‑in and security areas are compact, so queues can form during peak times, though the airport’s low overall passenger volume usually keeps wait times short.
Tobolsk is one of Siberia’s oldest and most historically significant cities. Founded in 1587, it served as the capital of the Siberian Governorate for more than two centuries. The city’s landmark is the Tobolsk Kremlin, a stunning white‑stone fortress complex that includes the Sofia‑Uspensky Cathedral and the Governor’s Palace. The Kremlin is a UNESCO World Heritage site candidate and a major draw for tourists. Beyond its history, the region is a powerhouse of Russia’s oil and gas industry. The nearby Tobolsk Industrial Site, operated by SIBUR, is one of the largest petrochemical complexes in the country, producing polymers and other products. This industrial activity drives significant business travel to the airport. Nature enthusiasts also visit the area for the Irtysh River and the surrounding taiga forests, which offer opportunities for fishing, hiking, and wildlife observation. The climate is continental, with cold, snowy winters and mild summers.
Aeroport Remezov does not operate 24 hours a day; it has scheduled opening hours aligned with flight times. Travelers should confirm their flight’s departure and arrive accordingly, as the terminal may close between operations. The airport’s website is http://rmz.aero/, where you can find flight schedules and contact details. For inquiries, you can call +7 345 639-06-02. Note that the airport is small, and staff may have limited English proficiency; knowing some basic Russian phrases can be helpful. Currency exchange services are not available on‑site, so it is best to withdraw cash or exchange money in Tobolsk before heading to the airport. All flights are domestic, so no customs or immigration procedures are required. Parking is free and located adjacent to the terminal building.
