Busiest on Mondays around 8 am — usually busy.
The entrance is quite odd, having to go around the old airport building, aswell as there being toilets only after the baggage check. However it's a huge upgrade from the old, soviet-era airport. Though the duty-free sections sucks.
Ugly, uncomfortable, dirty. But small and easy to go thru. As usual russian remote airport.
I give it 5 stars because the staff was friendly and the planes were on time and they still took security very serious.
I would like to sincerely thank the airport administration for their excellent work. This airport complex is rightfully considered one of the best in Russia. The first thing that impresses is the entrance area and the parking lot. Everything is tastefully decorated, every detail is thought out, the information is presented in an accessible and understandable way. I was especially pleased with the convenient location of the smoking rooms. The "dirty" zone greets passengers with a pleasant atmosphere and modern design. The check-in staff are professional and have a friendly appearance. Cleanliness is maintained at the highest level. In the transport security zone, the staff works promptly and politely, if necessary, clarifying details about the baggage being inspected. There are no queues due to the optimal number of personnel. The "sterile zone" is not inferior in quality. There is a decent selection of food outlets, comfortable chairs for waiting. The toilets are kept in perfect cleanliness, and even the toilet paper meets high standards. The small but extremely comfortable smoking room with an effective ventilation system deserves special attention - unlike some other airports, where such rooms leave much to be desired. The cleaning service works conscientiously. It is obvious that the airport management takes its work seriously and strives for perfection. The attention to detail here is really high, and it pays off. Keep up the good work!
Novokuznetsk Airport (IATA: NOZ) is a regional airport located near Prokopyevsk, serving the city of Novokuznetsk and the wider Kemerovo Oblast in Siberia, Russia. It is a key transport hub for the Kuzbass industrial region, primarily handling domestic flights to major Russian cities such as Moscow and Novosibirsk. The airport features a single terminal building and is primarily used by airlines like S7 Airlines, Ural Airlines, and Aeroflot. Its location about 20 kilometers from Novokuznetsk city center makes it accessible via road connections.
The airport provides several facilities aimed at passenger convenience and accessibility. The terminal is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance, making it easier for passengers with reduced mobility to navigate the airport. Inside, baggage storage is available for those who need to store luggage temporarily. Clean toilets are provided, including a baby changing table for families traveling with infants. While the airport does not offer extensive dining or shopping options, these basic amenities ensure a comfortable transit experience.
Novokuznetsk Airport is not open 24 hours a day; it operates with restricted hours. The busiest times at the airport are in the morning, particularly around 7 am and 8 am, coinciding with early departing flights. Passengers should plan their arrival accordingly, allowing ample time for check-in and security procedures. Outside of these peak hours, the airport may have reduced services or be closed, so it is essential to check flight times in advance and confirm the terminal opening hours for your departure.
For inquiries, passengers can contact the airport directly. The official website is https://aeroport-novokuzneck.ru/, which provides flight schedules, service information, and news. The airport's phone number is +7 384 399-34-44, staffed during operating hours. It is recommended to use the website for up-to-date information or call for specific questions regarding accessibility, baggage, or other services.
The airport is accessible by road from Novokuznetsk and Prokopyevsk. Taxis and private cars are the primary modes of transport, as public transit options may be limited. The airport has a parking area, including designated spaces for wheelchair users. For those driving, the parking lot is conveniently located near the terminal entrance. Rideshare services may be available, but it is advisable to pre-book transportation when possible.
Novokuznetsk Airport plays a vital role in connecting the Kuzbass region to the rest of Russia. The area is known for its coal mining and heavy industry, and the airport facilitates business travel, tourism, and cargo transport. While international flights are rare, the airport handles seasonal charter services to destinations in Turkey and Thailand during peak travel periods. The airport is a critical infrastructure component for the local economy, supporting both passenger and freight movements.
Given the airport's limited hours, passengers should arrive at least two hours before domestic flights. Check-in counters open approximately 2-3 hours prior to departure. Security screening is straightforward, but queues can form during peak morning hours. Bring snacks and drinks if needed, as food options inside the terminal may be limited. For passengers with mobility needs, the wheelchair-accessible facilities provide necessary support, but it is advisable to notify the airline in advance. Baggage storage is available for a fee, allowing passengers to explore the area if they have a layover.
Novokuznetsk Airport is a functional regional gateway that offers essential amenities and services to travelers. While not a large international hub, it efficiently serves the needs of the Kuzbass region. By understanding the airport's hours, facilities, and operational quirks, passengers can ensure a smooth journey through this Siberian airport.
