Busiest on Mondays around 4 pm — usually busy.
I was told to check in between 5:15 and 6:50 AM, and my flight was around 7. However, when I arrived at 6, I had to wait outside for about 3 minutes because the staff wasn't fully ready yet. The airport was quite amusing because it's so small. But they had welcome drinks and other little touches, and the service was great. The luggage scale was a bit faulty though--it would be better if they replaced it. I flew on a Cessna 208, and it was a really enjoyable experience
Small airport in Pangandaran. It was very quiet airport and only small aircraft here, and there's only one commercial airliner "susi air" and most of it for pilot training.
A small airport close to Pangandaran beach and Batu Karas. A very good means of transport if you need to take holiday in a nice and quiet beach of Southern Java. However, only Susi Air operated to this airport, and twice a day at most
Bandar Udara Nusawiru Cijulang, commonly known as Nusawiru Airport, is a regional airport located in Cijulang, a district in Pangandaran Regency, West Java, Indonesia. It serves as a key access point for travellers heading to the popular beach destination of Pangandaran and the surrounding natural attractions. The airport primarily handles domestic flights, connecting the region to Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport and other major hubs. Given its relatively small size, Nusawiru Airport is designed for narrow‑body aircraft and regional turboprops, catering mostly to leisure and business travellers visiting the south coast of West Java.
The airport is situated in the village of Cijulang, about 5 km east of the centre of Pangandaran town. The drive takes approximately 15 minutes by car or taxi, following a well‑maintained road that runs along the coast. For those coming from further afield, Pangandaran is roughly 220 km southeast of Bandung, the capital of West Java, and about 370 km from Jakarta. The most common way to reach the airport from outside the region is by flying into Jakarta or Bandung and then taking a connecting flight to Nusawiru. Alternatively, travellers can drive from Bandung in about 5–6 hours via the scenic southern coastal route. Local transport options from the airport include taxis, ride‑hailing services, and private car hires. Many hotels in Pangandaran also offer airport transfer services upon request.
Nusawiru Airport provides a range of essential amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for passengers with reduced mobility and all travellers. The terminal is equipped with a wheelchair‑accessible car park, ensuring that those with mobility needs can park close to the entrance. The main entrance itself is wheelchair‑accessible, with ramps and wide doors. Inside, passengers will find wheelchair‑accessible toilets, as well as standard toilet facilities. Baggage storage is available for those who wish to explore the area without lugging their suitcases. Although the airport is relatively compact, these facilities cover the basic needs of most passengers. As a regional airport, it may not offer extensive shopping or dining options, but basic necessities are covered.
Pangandaran Regency is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, particularly its long sandy beaches and lush green hills. The main draw is Pangandaran Beach, a broad stretch of golden sand that is popular for swimming, surfing, and sunset walks. Nearby, the Pangandaran Nature Reserve (also known as the Pananjung Pangandaran Nature Reserve) offers walking trails through tropical forest, home to monkeys, deer, and a variety of bird species. The reserve also features a turtle conservation area and a cave with historical significance. Beyond the beach, the region is known for its traditional fishing villages, where visitors can witness daily life and sample fresh seafood. Green Canyon, about 30 km east of Pangandaran, is another major attraction: a river gorge with emerald‑green water, ideal for boat tours and swimming. The area’s geography is characterised by a mix of coastal plains and low hills, with a warm tropical climate year‑round. Tourism is a vital part of the local economy, and the airport plays a crucial role in supporting this industry by providing direct air access from Jakarta and other cities.
Nusawiru Airport is not open every day; it operates on specific days based on flight schedules. The confirmed peak hours are 4 pm and 5 pm, suggesting that most flights arrive or depart around late afternoon. Passengers are advised to confirm their flight’s operating days and times with their airline, as services may be limited. At the time of writing, the airport does not have a publicly listed website or phone number. For enquiries, travellers are encouraged to contact their airline directly or check with local tourism offices. The terminal is small, so arriving about one to two hours before departure is generally sufficient for check‑in and security. Given the limited facilities, it is wise to bring any food or drinks you may need, as on‑site options may be minimal. Plan your transport to and from the airport in advance, especially if arriving outside peak hours or on days with fewer flights.
