Small airport but oke, Sofar only ATR come to this airport. Small arrival hall, 1 ATM, no waiting room or chair outside. Hope all will be better time to time
Small airport... service ok. But unfortunately the facilities are not well maintained. Smelly toilet, No AC or the AC is off
Need more improvement, specially the road in the portal, the toilet need to be clean but so far for the airport in the district the service from the aviation is better

Maleo Airport (IATA: MOL, ICAO: WAMO) serves as the primary aviation gateway to Morowali Regency in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Named after the maleo bird—a large, endemic species found on Sulawesi—the airport primarily handles domestic flights, connecting the regency with major hubs such as Makassar and Palu. It is a vital link for both passengers and cargo, supporting the local economy which is heavily driven by nickel mining and agriculture. The airport is modest in size, catering to a mix of business travellers, mining personnel, and tourists exploring the region's natural attractions. Due to its location in a resource-rich area, Maleo Airport sees regular charter flights as well, particularly for companies involved in the mining sector.
Maleo Airport is situated approximately 8 kilometres (5 miles) southeast of the town of Kolonodale, the administrative centre of North Morowali Regency. The airport lies in the Bungku Utara district, close to the coast of the Banda Sea. Access is primarily via road: a well-maintained but narrow two-lane highway connects the airport to Kolonodale and other towns in the regency. Most travellers reach the airport by private car or taxi, as public transport options are limited. Taxis and ride-hailing services operate from the airport to central Kolonodale, with a journey time of about 15–20 minutes. For those driving from further afield, the airport is about a 2-hour drive from Morowali’s capital, Bungku, along the Trans-Sulawesi Highway. There is no direct public bus service, but minibuses (angkot) can be flagged down on the main road near the airport entrance. Parking is available on site, with a simple car park that is wheelchair-accessible.
Maleo Airport offers essential amenities focused on accessibility and basic passenger comfort. The terminal is wheelchair-accessible, featuring a car park with designated spaces, an entrance with no steps, and accessible toilets. Standard toilet facilities are also available for all passengers. The airport does not have extensive retail or dining options; however, a small snack kiosk may be open during flight hours. Seating areas are provided in the departure lounge. Note that the airport is not open every day—operations are typically Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, with peak hours around 8–9 am when flights depart. Check with your airline for specific operating days. Wi-Fi is not confirmed, so plan accordingly.
Morowali Regency is located on the eastern coast of Central Sulawesi, bordered by the Banda Sea to the east. The region is renowned for its nickel deposits, which have attracted major mining operations, particularly by PT Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) — one of Indonesia's largest nickel processing zones. The mining boom has driven rapid development and increased air travel demand. Beyond industry, Morowali boasts natural beauty: the Morowali Nature Reserve protects lowland rainforest and wildlife such as anoa, babirusa, and maleo birds. The regency's coastline offers pristine beaches and coral reefs suitable for diving and snorkelling. Tourists also visit the traditional villages of the Wana and Mori tribes. The maleo bird, which lays its eggs in the warm sand near coastal hot springs, is a local icon and conservation focus.
Maleo Airport's website is http://www.bandaramorowali.com/, though it may not always be up to date. There is no confirmed phone number. The airport is open on select days: typically Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, with peak hours around 8–9 am. It is advisable to confirm flight schedules directly with airlines (e.g., Wings Air, Garuda Indonesia). The airport has no banking facilities or ATMs on site, so bring enough cash for the area. Services are basic, so plan to arrive no earlier than necessary during operating hours. For onward travel, pre-arranged transport is recommended, especially for those heading to remote mining sites or the IMIP industrial area.
