Very small airport. Only 2 flights are running one from hyderabad and the other from Raipur . Even the toilets are small. IndiGo has started its services and it's much better now.
A regional airport serving the Bastar region, named after Maa Danteshwari, facilitates connectivity to major cities like Raipur and Hyderabad under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, promoting tourism and economic development in the region. A small but beautiful airport.
A small but a very necessary connection point. As of now it has 2 flights - Hyderabad and Raipur and technically it's the same flight with 2 destinations. However the small airport still has 2 eatries inside so yeah, that's nice. Parking is not so large but since it's not crowded it doesn't matter as much.
Maa Danteshwari Airport is a crucial transportation hub located in Jagdalpur, named after the revered local deity, Maa Danteshwari. This airport serves as a lifeline for the city and surrounding regions, connecting Jagdalpur to major cities like Hyderabad and Raipur with daily flights on both routes. Its establishment has significantly improved access to this remote part of Chhattisgarh, contributing to the region's economic and social growth. From the photos, the airport's modern infrastructure stands out with its clean, polished interiors and well-organized seating areas, offering a comfortable waiting environment for passengers. The neatly arranged chairs and spacious terminals provide an efficient flow of people, reflecting the airport's commitment to quality service. The outdoor areas are equally impressive, with greenery and clear signage adding to the welcoming atmosphere. For travelers in Jagdalpur, Maa Danteshwari Airport is more than just an airport--it's a symbol of progress and development for the entire Bastar region. It has helped bridge the gap between the local community and the rest of India, fostering better business opportunities, tourism, and accessibility. The current schedule of daily flights is practical, but I would love to see an increase in the number of flights, especially to enhance connectivity with other parts of India. I conclude everything is very good and nice but the toilet need to be improved, it has very dim lights and smells very bad, although I request airport authority to improve it soon. Overall, for its role in uplifting the region, its clean and modern facilities, and its efficient connectivity, I give Maa Danteshwari Airport a 5/5. It truly has the potential to expand further and provide even greater service to the people of Jagdalpur and beyond.
Maa Danteshwari Airport, also known as Jagdalpur Airport, is a domestic airport serving the city of Jagdalpur in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, India. Named after the revered goddess Maa Danteshwari, the presiding deity of the region, the airport is a key gateway for travellers heading to the lush, tribal-dominated Bastar region. It primarily handles regional flights operated by airlines such as IndiGo and SpiceJet, connecting Jagdalpur to major cities like Raipur, Visakhapatnam, and occasionally Hyderabad. The airport is relatively small and low-traffic, used mainly by tourists, government officials, and locals. Its role in improving accessibility to one of India's most culturally and naturally rich areas has grown steadily, though it remains a niche aviation hub compared to larger Indian airports.
The airport is situated about 16 kilometres from Jagdalpur city centre, on the road towards Raipur. Its address is on National Highway 30, making it easily reachable by road. The journey from central Jagdalpur takes roughly 30 minutes by taxi or auto-rickshaw. Prepaid taxis and app-based services like Ola operate in the city, though availability can be limited during off-peak hours. Private car hire is also common. For those driving, the airport has a wheelchair-accessible car park. Public transport options are minimal; local buses do not run directly to the terminal. The nearest major city is Raipur, about 280 kilometres away via NH 30, and Visakhapatnam is approximately 350 kilometres east. The airport serves as the primary entry point for exploring the Bastar region, including the famous Chitrakoot Falls, Kanger Valley National Park, and the tribal markets of Jagdalpur.
Maa Danteshwari Airport is a compact terminal with essential facilities for a comfortable travel experience. Confirmed amenities include:
The airport does not have extensive retail or dining options. Travellers are advised to carry snacks and water, especially during delays. Free Wi-Fi is not confirmed; mobile data networks (4G) generally work well. The terminal is small, so navigation is straightforward. Given the limited facilities, planning ahead is wise.
Jagdalpur is the cultural heart of the Bastar region, an area known for its dense forests, waterfalls, and indigenous tribal communities. The region is part of the Deccan Plateau, with a landscape of sal forests, rivers, and rocky hills. Chitrakoot Falls, often called the 'Niagara of India,' is a major attraction, located about 40 kilometres from the airport. Tirathgarh Falls, within Kanger Valley National Park, is another stunning waterfall with step-like cascades. The park itself is a biodiversity hotspot, home to leopards, deer, and bird species. The Bastar Dussehra festival, unique in its tribal rituals, draws visitors from across the country. Travel to Bastar is often for eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and pilgrimage (the Danteshwari Temple in Dantewada). The airport thus serves as a vital link for both leisure and business travellers, including those involved in the region's mining and forestry sectors.
