Small regional airports, with great staff, minimal facilities. There is even a flying school over here for pilot training. The premises are clean, and well maintained. There's only one small snacks/tea/coffee kiosk over here. Just loved the hospitality of the IndiGo ground staff over here.
It's truly remarkable that Kishangarh -- a relatively small town in Rajasthan -- has its very own airport, while many larger and more prominent towns across India still don't. The reason lies in Kishangarh's unique identity: it is the marble manufacturing hub of India. This global recognition is largely thanks to the early vision and relentless efforts of the Mr Ashok Patni of R K Marbles group, whose pioneering work not only put Kishangarh on the world map but also boosted its economy and connectivity. The airport is clean, functional, and a blessing for business travelers, traders, and tourists alike. For a town of this size, having such direct air connectivity is an example of how focused industry and leadership can transform local infrastructure. Kishangarh Airport stands as a shining example of development driven by entrepreneurial foresight.
Small airport considering its tier 3 city. Star air flights operate here. I used it from Pune to Kishangarh. The lawns and gardens outside are maintained. Clean and maintained. Washrooms were clean.
Nearest airport to ajmer and Pushkar, though small but good.
Kishangarh Airport (IATA: KQH, ICAO: VIKG) is a domestic airport serving the historic city of Kishangarh in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Opened to commercial traffic in 2017, it provides a convenient gateway for travelers heading to the Ajmer region, including the nearby pilgrimage city of Pushkar and the marble hubs of Makrana and Kishangarh itself. The airport primarily handles flights from major Indian cities such as New Delhi, Jaipur, and of course IndiGo, and is a key alternative to the larger airports in Jaipur and Jodhpur. It is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The airport is compact and efficient, designed to handle regional passenger traffic. Its single terminal caters to both arrivals and departures, with a focus on ease of use. Given its relatively small size, passengers can expect quick check-ins and short walking distances to gates. The airport also serves as a base for some charter and private flights, particularly those related to the region's marble industry and tourism.
Kishangarh Airport is situated approximately 27 kilometers (17 miles) north of Ajmer, 30 kilometers from Pushkar, and 75 kilometers southwest of Jaipur. It lies off National Highway 48 (NH-48), making it easily accessible by road. The airport's location serves as a strategic entry point for the Marwar region, connecting to the historical cities of Kishangarh (famous for its miniature paintings and marble), the Brahma Temple in Pushkar, and the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer.
By Car/Taxi: Prepaid taxis and app-based services (like Ola and Uber) are available from the airport. The drive to Ajmer city center takes about 40 minutes, to Pushkar around 30 minutes, and to Jaipur approximately 1.5 hours depending on traffic. The road network is well-maintained, passing through semi-arid landscapes dotted with marble quarries and traditional villages.
By Bus: Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) and private buses operate from the nearby Ajmer bus stand, but there is no direct bus service from the airport terminal. Travelers typically take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to the main highway and flag down a bus heading to Ajmer or Jaipur.
By Train: The nearest major railway station is Ajmer Junction (AII), about 25 km away. From there, trains connect to major Indian cities. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are available for the onward journey.
Kishangarh Airport offers a range of amenities designed to ensure a comfortable experience for passengers with reduced mobility and families.
Note that the airport has limited dining options; travelers are advised to carry snacks if they have specific dietary needs. Free Wi-Fi is not confirmed, but some networks may be operational. ATMs are not present within the terminal, so it is wise to carry cash for taxi fares and small purchases.
Kishangarh is a city steeped in history and culture. It is renowned for its distinctive school of miniature painting, which emerged in the 18th century under the patronage of Maharaja Savant Singh and his poet-wife Bani Thani. The Kishangarh style is characterized by elegant figures and intricate detailing, with the iconic 'Bani Thani' portrait being one of India's most celebrated artworks.
The region is also India's largest producer of marble, with extensive quarries surrounding the city. The marble from Kishangarh is used in construction and sculpture across the country. Visitors can tour the marble market and witness the craftsmanship of local artisans.
Ajmer, a short drive away, is a major pilgrimage center for both Muslims and Hindus. The Ajmer Sharif Dargah attracts millions of devotees annually. Pushkar, equally famous, hosts the annual Pushkar Camel Fair and is one of the few places with a temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. The surrounding Aravalli hills offer opportunities for trekking and wildlife spotting at the nearby Sariska Tiger Reserve.
As a small regional airport, Kishangarh offers a stress-free alternative to larger hubs, allowing travelers to start their journey in Rajasthan with ease.
