First impression. It is very clean and modern. It doesn't look like an airport. The train connections are pretty clear. However, there are a lot of minus. Staff is rude and doesn't speak English. If you don't like your job , go find another job. There are not enough seats to sit down. So you either have to stay up for a long time or sit on the floor and get told off for that. Yes, the water from the toilet is drinkable but... what about hygiene issues. Why would I want to drink the toilet's water? It would be better if there were more visible drinking fountains. Everything is very expensive as in any other airport. Berlin is one of the biggest central cities in Europe. It's a shame to have so many negative comments about the airport.

Good Airport. It's new, and well structured. Clean, organised and well connected to public transport and rental car garage. However, the VIP lounge was overcrowded, and I was not allowed in. It is not structured for the amnount of passengers entitled to the lounge. (I was on SkyTeam - not Lufthansa)
Thank you for your positive comments about Berlin Brandenburg Airport, Ramesh. We're thrilled to hear that you found the airport clean, organized, and well-connected. We appreciate your feedback regarding the lounge and understand your frustration. We hope you have a better experience on your next visit! Best regards, Olivia (BER Airport)
Yesterday's experience with security T2 makes me worried of the safety of the public. Absolute lack of knowledge and logical thinking. The security lady with hostile hate in her eyes, detained bag of 1)small toilet freshners and called Bundespolizei. She said "they will deal with you. They stated " You already let her putting those in the bin, it's IATA regulation". I know Dangerous Goods regulation, limited quantity, packaging for PAX aircraft/cargo aircraft. I know very well IATA/ICAO as I work in aviation. SHE REFUSED TO TELL ME HER NAME AND WAS NOT WEARIMG AIRPORT ID.I approached other employees and they stated wearing valid airport ID is absolutely compulsory. I filmed her (without ID ) and I will now be escalating it much further. This is unacceptable. Not a single word "I'm sorry" - but I'm not her parent I cannot re-grow her. But I can take it further and escalate- because without airport ID she should not even TOUCH ME AND MY SUITCASE. Incompetence there is jus dispeakable.
Hello Maciej, thank you for your review, and I'm sorry to hear about what you experienced at the airport. We understand how important it is for airport security personnel to effectively carry out their duties while providing respectful interactions. We will forward your feedback to the appropriate department to ensure that necessary steps are taken. Your safety and comfort at BER are extremely important to us. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more details to add. Venja (BER Airport)
Very clean, very modern and well organized aiport. Very easily reached by Sbahn 9, directly from main stations. The food court is quite small in comparison to other aiports but it serves its purpose. Great choices for coffee there and the duty free is excellent. The highlight was the drinking fountains, great addition to an airport and it could definitely use more of those. The best features are the apps, the main BER app and the Smart Depart app are quality and provide all necessary information. Check in and security checks were fast (morning flight/weekday) and the staff were very friendly. Great 1st experience at this new airport.
Hi Sam, we're thrilled to receive such a detailed review and to learn that you had a great experience at BER! It's wonderful to hear you found the airport clean, modern, and accessible. We're continuously working to improve our facilities, including expanding our food court options. Your appreciation for our drinking fountains and the functionality of our apps makes us very proud. We're glad to hear that the check-in and security process was smooth for you. We hope your first visit is the beginning of many enjoyable trips through our airport! Best regards, Venja (BER Airport)
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) serves as the primary international gateway to Germany's capital and surrounding region. Located on the site of the former Berlin-Schönefeld Airport, BER opened to commercial traffic in October 2020 after years of delays. It handles a mix of domestic, European, and intercontinental flights, with major carriers including Lufthansa, easyJet, Ryanair, and many others. The airport consists of one main terminal building (Terminal 1) and a smaller Terminal 2, which opened later to handle low-cost and leisure traffic. BER is designed to efficiently process both business and leisure travellers, connecting Berlin to destinations across Europe and beyond. As a modern hub, it features a single passenger terminal complex (T1 and T2) with clear signage and streamlined security procedures.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport is situated approximately 18 kilometres (11 miles) southeast of Berlin's city centre, near the town of Schönefeld in the state of Brandenburg. The airport's location straddles the border between Berlin and Brandenburg, making it accessible from both the city and the surrounding region.
By train: The airport has its own railway station, Flughafen BER, located directly beneath Terminal 1. Regional trains (RE7, RB14, RB22) connect BER to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (main station) in about 20–30 minutes, as well as to other stations in Berlin and Brandenburg. The S-Bahn line S9 also serves the airport, providing direct connections to central Berlin (e.g., Ostkreuz, Friedrichstrasse) with a journey time of roughly 30–40 minutes. There is no direct long-distance ICE service to the airport, but travellers can change at Berlin Hauptbahnhof or Südkreuz.
By car: BER is easily reachable via the A113 motorway (exit Schönefeld Süd or Nord) and the B96a road. Parking is available in several multi-storey car parks (P1–P4) and outdoor lots, all paid. The airport has dedicated drop-off and pick-up zones at Terminal 1.
By bus: Several regional and local bus lines connect the airport to nearby towns and to Berlin's public transport network. Bus stops are located outside the terminal.
By taxi or ride-share: Taxis are available at designated ranks outside the arrivals area. Journey time to central Berlin is about 20–40 minutes depending on traffic.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport offers a range of on-site services to ensure a comfortable travel experience. The following amenities are confirmed:
Note that Terminal 2 has more limited facilities than Terminal 1.
Berlin is the capital of Germany and its largest city, known for its rich history, vibrant arts scene, and diverse architecture. The region of Berlin-Brandenburg is a major cultural and economic centre in Central Europe. Berlin itself is famous for landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, Berlin Wall Memorial, and Museum Island. The city's nightlife, food scene, and numerous galleries attract millions of visitors each year.
Brandenburg, the state surrounding Berlin, offers a mix of natural landscapes, including the Spreewald biosphere reserve with its network of canals, and historic towns like Potsdam, home to Sanssouci Palace. The region is also a hub for technology, startups, and creative industries. Business travellers come for conferences, trade fairs, and corporate headquarters, while leisure travellers enjoy Berlin's museums, parks, festivals, and shopping.
The airport serves as a key entry point for tourists exploring both the city and the wider region. Additionally, BER handles a significant volume of transit traffic, especially for low-cost carriers connecting various European cities.
Passengers should arrive at least 2–3 hours before international flights and 1–2 hours before domestic or Schengen flights. The airport's layout is straightforward, with clearly marked zones for check-in, security (A, B, C, D, E, F), and baggage claim.
