Small, international airport close to Israeli border with a beautiful road carved in limestone leading to Red Sea coast. The staff is helpful - no complaints about this airport
Nice little airport with good Information and service Smoking area, little shops and toilet's
Dreadful hole. They hide a random item of luggage on arrival (mine in this case) and then magically find it and expect a nice gratuity from the grateful traveller. And maybe it's a cultural thing, but paying the guy outside the toilets for sheets of toilet paper just doesn't say "holiday of a lifetime" to me. I'd rather roller-skate to Egypt than fly into here again.
Tower personnel are amenable to flight requests for patterns and instrument approaches. Ensure you are polite and comply with all directions regarding engine starts and clearances. Refuel is expedient. There is almost no traffic other than MFO aircraft. There is also no restroom as of Jul 2021 for air crews.
Taba International Airport (IATA: TCP, ICAO: HETB) serves the coastal resort town of Taba and the broader Nuweiba region on the eastern edge of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. Situated near the border with Israel and the Gulf of Aqaba, this international airport primarily handles charter flights bringing tourists to the Red Sea Riviera and the Sinai's desert landscapes. The airport's location makes it a convenient entry point for travelers heading to beach resorts, diving sites, and historical attractions such as St. Catherine's Monastery. While smaller than Egypt's major hubs, Taba International Airport offers essential facilities for a smooth arrival and departure experience.
Taba International Airport provides a range of on-site services designed to accommodate passengers with varying needs. The terminal is equipped with facilities that prioritize accessibility: a wheelchair-accessible car park, wheelchair-accessible entrance, and wheelchair-accessible toilet are available, ensuring ease of movement for travelers with reduced mobility. Baggage storage is offered, allowing passengers to securely store luggage for a few hours or longer—useful for those with layovers or wanting to explore the area before a late flight. Standard toilets are located throughout the terminal, and there is a dedicated changing table for families traveling with infants. While the airport does not feature extensive retail or dining options, the on-site services cover the basics for a comfortable transit.
Taba International Airport is not open every day; operations are tied to flight schedules, which vary seasonally. Based on observed patterns, the busiest times fall around 9 pm and 10 pm, suggesting that most flights arrive or depart in the evening. Travelers should confirm their flight's specific timing with their airline or tour operator and plan to arrive at the airport at least two to three hours before departure, especially during these peak windows. Outside of scheduled flights, the terminal may be closed, so it is essential to check the operating hours for the day of travel.

Taba International Airport plays a vital role in connecting the Sinai Peninsula to international destinations, particularly during the peak tourist season from autumn to spring. The airport’s proximity to the Israeli border town of Eilat (approximately 10 km away) also makes it a cross-border gateway for travelers visiting both countries. The region is known for its coral reefs, desert canyons, and historical significance, drawing visitors for both leisure and pilgrimage. Though the airport is modest in scale, it supports the local economy by facilitating direct access to resorts in Taba, Nuweiba, and Dahab, reducing the need for long overland transfers from Cairo or Sharm el-Sheikh.
