At Assiut airport 01.10.25, as per Mr. Ali Hasan Nasr, I did passenger complaint report, I should receive an updated email from the airlines regarding my issue however no feedback was received. At Assiut International Airport today, 01.10.2025, I was denied boarding by Mr. (refused to provide his name) for flight Flyadeal F3778 - Flynas XY507. He stated that Flyadeal does not accept transit flights and that it was a mistake on the website side, not the airline's responsibility. However, my booking was issued as a single ticket, not as two separate bookings. How could such an issue occur without any prior warning at the time of reservation? I purchased my ticket through Trip.com, and no notification regarding this restriction was provided as per the airline's representative.
- Road going & coming to Assuit International Airport needs maintenance & BOLD & clear.road/traffic signs for guidance. It was not safe at all when we fetch our brother last night. - Comfortable shaded waiting area must be provided for passengers & their families arriving early to protect us from hot&cold weather. - Mgr, Officers & staff must be well knowledgeable enough with know-how-to tackle with any situation that requires verifications and communications from respective dept or offices. Must follow rules of "no smoking while on duty" and "no tips" rules. - Continue to upgrade your facilities & services to adopt with international airport Standard and protocol to compete with the world and satisfy your passengers & clients..
I have never felt so welcomed and safe in the hands of the security here. Arrived way too early for my flight so thought I would just rest in the waiting room and wait for my flight. A taxi to get back into town to rest in a hotel was too expensive for me. Security went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and safe and contacted the operations team. The operations team went beyond anything they needed to, but they insisted to open the lounge specifically for me to have somewhere to rest well before my flight. Hats off to them I really appreciate everything they have done for me here, I felt so well looked after. Such kind hearted and amazing airport staff 11/10
Assiut International Airport (also known as Asyut Airport) serves as a key gateway for Upper Egypt, particularly the Asyut Governorate and surrounding regions. It primarily handles domestic flights to Cairo and international routes to Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. The airport is a vital hub for Egyptian expatriates working abroad, especially those returning for holidays or performing Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. Additionally, it accommodates cargo traffic, supporting the region’s agricultural exports like cotton and grains. With its modest size but strategic importance, Assiut International Airport alleviates the need for long journeys to Cairo International Airport for residents of Middle and Upper Egypt.
The airport is located in the Asyut Desert, approximately 20 kilometers west of downtown Assiut city, near the western edge of the Nile Valley. The main access route is via the Assiut–El-Wadi El-Gedid Road, which connects the airport to the city’s center. Travelers can reach the airport by private car, taxi, or ride-hailing services. Taxis are readily available from downtown Assiut and the bus station; the journey takes about 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. There is no direct rail or public bus service, but some hotels offer shuttle arrangements. For those driving, the free parking lot provides ample space. The airport’s location on the desert edge means it can be subject to occasional dust storms, though these rarely disrupt operations.
Assiut International Airport offers essential services focused on accessibility and convenience for all passengers. The terminal is equipped with wheelchair-accessible facilities, including a designated car park, entrance, and toilets, ensuring smooth movement for travelers with reduced mobility. A baggage storage service is available, useful for those with layovers or wishing to explore the area without luggage. Clean and well-maintained toilets are located throughout the terminal, and a changing table is provided for families with infants. The free parking lot is a practical benefit for private vehicle users. Note that the airport does not currently feature extensive shopping, dining, or lounge options; travelers should plan accordingly, especially during late‑night peak hours. The check‑in and arrival areas are compact but functional.
Assiut is the largest city in Upper Egypt and the capital of the Asyut Governorate. The region is historically significant: it was an important center in ancient Egypt (known as Lycopolis) and today is a hub for Coptic Christianity, with several monasteries in the nearby desert, such as Deir el-Muharraq and Deir el-Ganadla. The fertile Nile valley around Assiut supports agriculture, producing cotton, sugarcane, wheat, and vegetables. The city is also home to Assiut University, one of Egypt’s largest higher education institutions. Travelers often visit for religious tourism, family visits, or to explore archaeological sites like the tombs of Meir (northwest of the city) and the remains of the ancient city of Asyut. The modern economy includes trade, manufacturing, and services. The airport’s location in the desert provides a stark contrast to the lush Nile corridor, offering views of the surrounding arid landscape.
