The airport itself is very unfriendly for international travelers. Almost nobody speaks English, announcements are only in Portuguese, and even in the international area there is no information in English or Spanish. If you don't speak Portuguese, it is very hard to find your way. Azul Airlines is even worse. I booked a direct flight to Alta Floresta in March. Without telling me, they canceled it and moved me to another flight with a long connection: from Cuiaba to Sao Paulo and then to Alta Floresta, which took 13 hours instead of a short direct flight. Their app is only in Portuguese and gave no clear information. I only found out about the cancellation after calling customer service. Later, when I finally boarded another Azul flight, it was canceled after we were already on the plane because of "safety reasons." No explanation was given in English. The crew and staff did not speak English or Spanish, so I had no idea what was happening. They announced something in Portuguese, people left, and I was stuck not knowing where to go. On top of that, the new flight I got was cheaper than the one I booked originally, but Azul refused to refund the difference. Customer service told me directly that they would not give any money back. Overall: if you are a foreign traveler in Brazil, avoid Azul Airlines. They are unreliable, do not communicate in English or Spanish, and offer very poor service.
Small regional airport, but is nice. The gate areas have enough seating and there are plenty of places to eat both before TSA and after. You do sometimes have to deplane on the tarmac which can be inconvenient, but overall a good experience

What happened to this airport and did it really need renovation? There is NOTHING to do here so don't have a long layover or wait for a flight. No shops, it's HOT and CROWDED. Like they couldn't do renovations in small parts instead of destroying the whole terminal? Terrible. Was shocked to see this compared to the last time I was there.
