Biskra airport is very small and lacks proper facilities. My flight was delayed, but there was no information displayed anywhere, and there was no one around to ask for details. It felt very disorganized and not well-equipped to handle delays or provide assistance to passengers. If you're traveling through here, be prepared for limited services and a lack of communication.
We were waiting in the terminal. Our Algiers plane got delayed AND landed in Batna instead because of bad weather. We were told each on their own how to manage that. AirAlgerie refused to refund my ticket or compensate my flight. Downright worst international airport. Shame on your AirAlgerie
Not the best airport, decent service but half of the flights are late.
Biskra International Airport (officially Mohamed Kheider Airport) serves the city of Biskra in northeastern Algeria. Situated at the northern edge of the Sahara, Biskra is a regional centre for agriculture, tourism and trade, and the airport acts as an important gateway for both passengers and cargo. Although classified as international, most traffic is domestic, with connections primarily to Algiers and other Algerian cities, as well as occasional international charter flights, particularly during the winter season when the region’s desert climate attracts visitors. The airport is relatively small but functional, handling a modest volume of travellers while offering the essential services needed for a smooth journey.
The terminal provides a range of accessibility features for passengers with reduced mobility. A wheelchair-accessible car park is available, with designated spaces close to the entrance. The main entrance itself is wheelchair-accessible, and accessible toilets are located inside the terminal. These facilities ensure that passengers with mobility challenges can navigate the airport with relative ease.
For those needing to store luggage, baggage storage is available on site. This is useful for travellers who wish to explore Biskra without their bags or have long layovers. Standard toilet facilities are also provided for all passengers. Other services such as dining, shopping or lounges are not confirmed, so travellers should plan accordingly.
The airport is not open 24 hours a day and may operate on a restricted schedule aligned with flight arrivals and departures. It is advisable to check the airport’s status before heading there, especially for early morning or late night flights. Based on observed activity, the busiest times are around 4 pm and 5 pm, when multiple flights may be scheduled. During these peak hours, passengers should allow extra time for check-in and security.
For enquiries or assistance, passengers can contact the airport directly:
The official website is managed by EGSA Constantine, the state enterprise responsible for airports in eastern Algeria. It provides flight schedules, services, and administrative information.
Biskra Airport is located approximately 10 kilometres southwest of the city centre, off the main road towards Tolga. Transport options to and from the airport include taxis and private cars. Taxis are available at the terminal, but it is advisable to agree on the fare before starting the journey. Public bus services are limited, so most travellers rely on ridesharing or pre-arranged transfers. The journey into central Biskra takes around 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.
Given that the airport is relatively small, services such as shops and restaurants may be minimal or unavailable. It is recommended to bring snacks and water, especially for longer waits. Currency exchange is not confirmed, so passengers should arrange local currency before arriving or at the city centre. During peak hours, queues can form, so arriving at least two hours before departure for domestic flights and three hours for international flights is sensible.
The region of Biskra experiences a hot desert climate. Summers can be extremely hot, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C. The airport terminal is air-conditioned, but passengers should stay hydrated and wear appropriate clothing. Winters are mild and pleasant, making it a popular season for tourism.
Biskra International Airport offers a no‑frills travel experience with essential accessibility features and baggage storage. Its peak hours in the late afternoon require some planning, but the airport’s compact size means that navigation is straightforward. With direct contact information provided, passengers can obtain up‑to‑date information from the operator. Whether travelling for business or leisure, understanding the airport’s limited services and operating hours will help ensure a smooth journey.
