Camair-co, operating as the national flag carrier of Cameroon, was established in 2006 to succeed the defunct Cameroon Airlines, which ceased operations in 2008. The airline, whose IATA code is QC, is wholly owned by the Cameroonian government and officially launched commercial services in March 2011. As the country’s designated flag carrier, Camair-co holds a significant role in representing Cameroon’s aviation sector, though it has faced ongoing financial and operational challenges that have led to periodic suspensions and restructuring efforts. The airline’s headquarters are located in Douala, the economic capital, and it remains a state-controlled entity with a mandate to connect the nation’s key regions, while also supporting broader economic and tourism objectives.

The fleet of Camair-co is relatively modest and primarily comprises narrow-body aircraft suited for regional and domestic operations. As of recent years, the carrier operates a small number of Boeing 737 variants, including the Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800, alongside a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 turboprop for shorter-haul routes. These aircraft are configured in a single-class layout, typically offering economy seating. The airline has at times wet-leased additional aircraft to meet demand or fill gaps during maintenance periods. A secondary hub is located at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport (YAO), the capital city’s gateway, enabling Camair-co to connect the two largest cities and support onward connections to other domestic points. These two airports handle the vast majority of the carrier’s flights, with Double functioning as the central maintenance and operations centre. The airline also occasionally operates from other smaller airports within Cameroon, but its core activity revolves around these two hubs. No specific routes or destinations are discussed here, but the hub structure underscores a domestic and regional orientation.

Camair-co operates as a full-service flag carrier within the context of Cameroon, offering standard economy class service with complimentary amenities. The operational model is that of a traditional national carrier, though in practice it has faced severe financial difficulties, leading to government bailouts and restructuring initiatives.
