Luxair, designated with IATA code LG and ICAO code LGL, stands as the flag carrier of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Founded in 1961 through a merger of the Luxembourg Air Finance Company and the Luxembourg Airlines Company, the airline began operations the following year with a single Fokker F27 Friendship. Its ownership structure reflects a strong public-private partnership: the Luxembourg state holds a majority stake, complemented by holdings from the national postal and telecommunications company POST Luxembourg, the state-owned banking institution Banque et Caisse d’Épargne de l’État, and the Luxembourg-based steel giant ArcelorMittal.
