Severstal Air Company, operating under the IATA code D2 and ICAO designation SSF, is a Russian regional airline established in 1998 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Severstal steel and mining conglomerate. The company commenced flight operations the following year, initially created to provide reliable business and corporate transport for the parent corporation’s executives and personnel in the Vologda Oblast region. Over time, it evolved into a scheduled and charter carrier serving the broader community, while retaining a strong connection to its industrial parent. Severstal’s ownership structure remains straightforward: the airline is 100% owned by PAO Severstal, one of Russia’s leading steel producers, and its operations are closely aligned with the parent’s logistical and travel needs.
