Busiest on Mondays around 1 pm — usually as busy as it gets.
We recently got delayed for what was expected to be 5 hrs. The workers provided us with snacks & drinks while we waited. This facility has some of the most friendly people! I come from a small town & after Charlotte it was nice to feel like I was home! I would fly to Paducah again just for these folks! Bravo And the mural is sooo beautiful!
Clean small airport. Tsa was the friendliness I've ever seen. Even greeted from the local police with a good morning. There are two gates and they open the counter 2 hours before the plane leaves. They had a small selection of food and drinks with free coffee while supplies lasted. This place is close to the home and better than driving to Nashville airport.
It's a small airport as airports go. There is only one airline flying in an out to only one destination but if you are headed to Charlotte, NC and you live in western Kentucky or North western Tennessee this airport is for you. It appears to be brand new but I was told it's only 3 years old. It's very bright and clean and all the people working there are super friendly and helpful. My wife and I really liked flying out of there and we we'll be using it again.
Clean facilities! Nice comfy chairs Only downside is lack of restaurants...but there is a vending machine Best legroom ever for economy class...they could even fit a recliner or a bed in the back of the plane
Barkley Regional Airport (IATA: PAH, ICAO: KPAH) serves as the primary commercial airport for the Paducah area in western Kentucky. This small regional airport is named after Alben W. Barkley, a United States Vice President under President Harry S. Truman who hailed from nearby Graves County. The airport primarily caters to business travelers and leisure passengers seeking convenient access to the region, offering scheduled commercial flights to major hub airports. Its modest size provides a stress-free alternative to larger airports, with quick check-in and short security lines.
Barkley Regional Airport is located in West Paducah, about 6 miles (10 km) northwest of downtown Paducah, Kentucky. The airport sits on the south side of the Ohio River, near the intersection of Interstate 24 and US Highway 60. It is easily accessible by car via Kentucky Route 305 (Barkley Drive) from I-24 exit 3. The airport's location makes it convenient for travelers from Paducah as well as nearby communities in southern Illinois (such as Metropolis and Cairo) and northwestern Tennessee. Driving time from downtown Paducah is roughly 10–15 minutes. For those coming from the Illinois side, crossing the Ohio River via the Interstate 24 bridge provides direct access. The airport has an on-site paid parking lot, with both short-term and long-term options available. As the airport does not offer rental car services on-site, passengers will need to arrange for taxis, ride-shares, or car rentals from off-airport providers. The terminal is compact, so walking distances are minimal.
Although small, Barkley Regional Airport offers essential amenities to ensure a comfortable pre-flight experience. The terminal building is fully wheelchair-accessible, with designated parking spots, an accessible entrance, and accessible toilets. Gender-neutral toilets are available for added inclusivity. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the terminal, allowing passengers to work or browse while waiting. A paid parking lot is located adjacent to the terminal, and the parking fee can be paid at the automated machine or at the check-in counter. There are no restaurants or shops inside the terminal, but vending machines offer snacks and beverages. Travelers should plan accordingly and bring their own food if needed. The airport also has a small waiting area with seating. For any assistance, airport staff are available during operating hours.
Western Kentucky, centered around Paducah, is a region rich in history and culture. Paducah itself is known for its vibrant arts scene, particularly the National Quilt Museum, which draws visitors from around the world. The city was designated a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts in 2013. The area is also steeped in river history, sitting at the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the nearby Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, which offers hiking, fishing, and camping. The region's economy is supported by manufacturing, agriculture, and the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (now under cleanup). Barkley Regional Airport provides vital air connectivity for business and leisure travelers, allowing access to this unique part of the country without the drive to larger airports like Nashville or St. Louis.
Whether you are traveling for business or leisure, Barkley Regional Airport offers a simple and efficient gateway to the attractions and communities of western Kentucky.
