The airport sits on the eastern edge of the Rimrocks—a geological formation of sandstone cliffs that frame the city. Driving from downtown Billings takes approximately 5–10 minutes via 1st Avenue North or the 27th Street corridor.

For those coming from out of town, Billings is about 120 miles east of Bozeman, 240 miles southeast of Great Falls, and roughly 300 miles northwest of Rapid City, South Dakota. Rental car companies are located on-site in the terminal, making it convenient for road trips to Yellowstone (about 2.5 hours southwest to the North Entrance at Gardiner) or the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument (about 60 miles east). Taxis and ride-share services like Uber and Lyft operate in Billings; there is no direct public bus to the airport, but several hotels offer free shuttles. Parking is available in short-term and long-term lots adjacent to the terminal, with a dedicated accessible parking area.
