  Very convenient not having to go to Houston. Its a definite help to not have the expense of parking (saves a ton if your going to be gone for any length of time). Staff is fairly helpful and friendly. Short check in time compared to large airports also no crowds to deal with or long amounts of walking compared to large airports.

  I have traveled regularly for work for the past 14 years. I have extensive experience with BPT, IAH, DFW, and countless airports outside the state. Here are the pros, cons and gray areas for flying out of BPT: Pros: Speed/Convenience - if you're a local (Jefferson County or similar), it's a no brainer to come here. It's easy to get to and there's just one gate that AA flies out of. Free parking, right in the parking lot. If there's a line to check bags, there's maybe only 1 or 2 people in front of you. TSA Precheck makes everything even faster. You can get there an hour before your flight is scheduled to leave, and you're fine. Compare that to IAH - you have to get there 2+ hours early, which means you leave home 4+ hours before your flight departs. Then you have to find where you're going to pay to park your car for the duration of your travel, and get shuttled by Parking Spot or a competitor over to the airport, and then navigate the city that is IAH and the crush of people that constantly flow through there. Planes - The planes now are regional jets with wifi, not the old dumpy planes of the past, for those of you who haven't flown BPT in several years. This is a wonderful change. Cons: Amenities - no restaurant. No stores. There are car rental booths there, but that's it. There is 1 drink vending machine, and 1 snack vending machine, and I'm at the point where I never check them because I assume they're unplugged or otherwise not working. I think if one cafe/sandwich shop could get in there, it would hold its own, but they'd have to set up inside the security checkpoint or people would see it as a waste of money. Right now, the seating area at the gate has way more seats than are necessary for a 50 passenger plane - it would be great to see the far end converted into a little cafe. It would make the delays not so terrible. Flight availability/delays - right now, there are 3 flights that leave/return daily from/to BPT. Somewhere around 6am, 3-4pm, and 10pm. I've seen over the years that these flights started out with just a few people with me - a good portion of the plane would be empty. Heck, once I flew from DFW on a late flight and it was me and 2 other people. Nowadays, they're full nearly every single flight - I think AA would benefit from offering a 4th option, either to DFW or to another international airport. But, as others have stated in their reviews, delays do occur. With BPT being such a small airport and only having 3 flights a day, they get the short stick sometimes when planes aren't available or etc., because a delay here impacts the fewest passengers. From a business standpoint, it makes sense. From a BPT passenger standpoint, it's not fun. But so far, I've never had to come home on a different day than I expected to because of a BPT delay. However, I have had to miss connections outside of BPT because of a BPT delay. And I'm a Platinum flyer... so take that however you want. I know it conflicts with what I said above about putting a cafe in the secured area, because more flights potentially mean opening up the other gate that's never used but come on, Jack Brooks management. I'm a pretty successful project manager if you need one to organize/plan all this. ha Gray Area: Staff - This one is more of a pro with a little bit of gray. Generally, I actually like the staff. They tend to juggle multiple roles - I'll see the same guy who checked me in as the guy waving the wands to guide the plane out for taxiing. So I tend to give them some grace, because they're handling a lot. I have had experiences with rude staff, but it was usually from a TSA agent, and even then, it wasn't regularly. My last trip to Wichita, the counter agent and I got to laugh about a tag I had on my bag. It was just a nice human interaction, not the cattle call situation you sometimes see at larger airports. Overall, if you need quick and close, fly BPT. If you have time and can handle the logistics of leaving out of IAH, go for it. It just depends on where you're flying and what your prefs are.

  Great airport to land at, with a quick walk from the terminal to the entry. Howeverrrrrr, departures can be rough as weather can be a tricky little devil. After going back and forth on and off the plane due to weather issues in Dallas, guests were less than happy and made it known. However the staff was wonderful, patient and offered snacks and waters while quickly handling everyone's complaints and demands. My only issue is we couldn't leave the airport to get fresh air in our 3+ hour delay since TSA left after checking us all in. The beauty and curse of having a two terminal airport for sure. Otherwise a clean, beautiful, location.

  I brought my family here for a very important flight to have my kids meet there grandparents for the holidays only to be met with a bad taste in my mouth I would say i was met unprofessional service but there was no staff to be found until my flight was ready to be board Nobody to check for luggage nothing... I was force to move flights to a different location unplanned. I hope no one has to go threw what i went thru.
