Hello! Today my daughter and her two children were not allowed on the flight. About 19 thousand were spent. The money is not being returned. She entered the children's birth certificate data incorrectly. There were 40 minutes left before departure. Was there really nothing that could be done? She asked the employee at the ticket office to help, but the girl did not help. I am in shock
A nice little airport. Very small. But the ramp is surprisingly good, not slippery, unlike at Domodedovo, where you could kill yourself on the ramp. Plus, the outdoor ramp and steps are covered with a wonderful material that's completely non-slip. Very comfortable. Cars drive up close to the entrance. So, the arrivals were excellent.
The airport itself is not big, but more or less modern. How the board works: My flight was not on it at all. I waited for the woman "at the window" and she assured me that my flight existed and they needed to turn on something to display it. In the end, I never saw my flight on the board. I guessed that check-in had started when the baggage window opened. Loudspeaker: I first heard information from it when I had already completed check-in and pre-flight inspection and was sitting in the lounge before departure. The lounge where passengers gather before departure: There is a water cooler, a toilet and a limited number of seats for passengers (not enough for everyone). On the positive side, it seemed strange that the girl was walking around with questionnaires and finding out what people liked/disliked about Tuva (it seemed like an encouraging phenomenon). In general, move around Kyzyl with caution, some locals express hostility towards Russians, to be honest I still don't understand why.
The waiting room is small even for passengers on a dry Superjet. It's hot to sit in winter clothes for an hour waiting for takeoff. For some reason, there was no ventilation. Minibus 1A goes to the airport. The fare is 20 rubles. The journey to and from the city center takes about 15 minutes.
Kyzyl Airport (KYZ) serves as the primary air gateway to the Tuva Republic, a remote and culturally rich region in southern Siberia, Russia. Located in the capital city of Kyzyl, the airport handles predominantly domestic flights, connecting Tuva with major Russian hubs such as Moscow and Novosibirsk. It is a relatively small facility, but essential for travellers heading to this distinctive part of the country, known for its unique traditions, stunning landscapes, and the famous Tuvan throat singing. The airport primarily caters to passengers on scheduled flights operated by airlines like S7 Airlines and NordStar, as well as charter services during peak seasons.
Kyzyl Airport is situated approximately 6 kilometres southwest of Kyzyl city centre, along the road to the village of Kaa-Khem. The airport is easily reachable by car or taxi. Taxis are available from the city centre and the journey typically takes around 15–20 minutes. There is no direct public bus service to the airport, so renting a car or arranging a transfer in advance is recommended. For those driving, the airport is located on the A162 highway, which connects Kyzyl to other parts of Tuva and neighbouring regions. The nearest major city is Kyzyl itself, with a population of around 120,000. Other nearby settlements include Kaa-Khem and the smaller villages along the Yenisei River.
Kyzyl Airport offers essential amenities focused on accessibility and comfort. The terminal features a wheelchair-accessible car park located close to the entrance, ensuring easy access for passengers with reduced mobility. The entrance itself is wheelchair-accessible, and there are wheelchair-accessible toilets available within the terminal building. Standard toilet facilities are also provided. While the airport is compact, it includes a small waiting area, check-in counters, and a baggage claim area. There are limited dining and shopping options – typically a small café or vending machines for snacks and drinks. Passengers should plan accordingly, especially during the peak hours of 7 am and 8 am when flights to Moscow and Novosibirsk often depart. The airport does not operate every day; it has specific days of operation, so travellers should verify their flight schedule in advance.
The Tuva Republic, located in the geographic centre of Asia, is a land of dramatic contrasts. It is bordered by the Sayan Mountains to the north and the Altai Mountains to the west, with the mighty Yenisei River flowing through its heart. The region is renowned for its pristine natural beauty: vast steppes, taiga forests, alpine lakes, and mineral springs. Tuva is also a cultural treasure, famous worldwide for its tradition of throat singing (khoomei), a unique vocal technique that produces multiple pitches simultaneously. The Tuvan people have a rich nomadic heritage, and visitors can experience traditional yurt camps, horse riding, and Buddhist ceremonies at local temples. Kyzyl itself is home to the National Museum of Tuva, which houses the famous Scythian gold artifacts and exhibits on local history and culture. Travellers come to Tuva for adventure tourism, including hiking, rafting, and wildlife watching, as well as for ethnographic and spiritual experiences. The region is also a gateway to the remote and pristine areas of southern Siberia.
