Busiest on Mondays around 8 am — usually as busy as it gets.
A small airport with a few gates. Only two shops serving food and beverages with a duty free shop. It gets crowded with no seating when more than one airline departs within a certain time frame. My flights departed and arrived on time. It takes a bit longer to claim baggage.
Small and tiny airport which is nice. This is a public buss (green color) it runs every hour and the cost is 5 local lei, moreover you can pay by card.
really rude staff members. no wifi inside and staff members said "and who's problem is this" after i told them we couldn't register to show visa status. please fix this, otherwise i don't recommend this airport, it ruined our whole mood fir the rest of the day.
By far the worst airport I've ever been to, and I've been to really rough places. Any good review must be from people who haven't seen any other airport in their lives. Not only is it small, it's extremely undersized for its traffic. Everything is crowded, and nothing can be done comfortably. The waiting area can't even hold the travelers for a single airliner. Lines for the gates, passport control, toilet and shop overlap chaotically. Security will pull things from your tray "for security" then forget to tell you, which is short of theft, then blame you when you call them out.
Suceava Ștefan cel Mare International Airport (SCV) is a regional gateway in northeastern Romania, serving the historical region of Bukovina and the broader Moldavia area. Named after the medieval ruler Stephen the Great (Ștefan cel Mare), the airport handles both domestic and international flights, connecting this culturally rich part of Romania to major European hubs. It primarily serves leisure travellers heading to the nearby monasteries of Southern Bukovina, as well as business passengers and locals visiting family abroad. The airport is relatively compact, focusing on efficiency and passenger comfort without overwhelming scale.
The airport is located in the commune of Salcea, about 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) east of Suceava city centre. It sits on flat terrain near the Siret River valley, easily accessible via the DN29 national road that links Suceava to Botoșani. Driving from Suceava takes roughly 15–20 minutes. Botoșani, the other major city in the region, is about 30 km (19 mi) to the northeast, a 30-minute drive. For those coming from farther afield, such as Iași (about 140 km south-east) or Chernivtsi in Ukraine (about 80 km north), car or taxi is the most practical option. There is no direct train station at the airport, but a regular bus service (line 53 and airport shuttle) connects the airport to Suceava's main bus and train stations. Taxis are also available; it's advisable to agree on a fare beforehand or use ride-hailing apps. The airport has both free and paid parking lots, making it convenient for those who drive.
Suceava Airport offers a range of essential amenities for passengers. The terminal is fully wheelchair-accessible, with a dedicated car park, entrance, and toilets for those with mobility needs. Baggage storage is available, allowing travellers to explore the area hands-free before or after a flight. Toilet facilities are well-maintained and include baby changing tables, catering to families with young children. The airport provides both free and paid parking options: the free lot is ideal for short stays, while the paid lot offers security and extended parking for longer trips. Amenities are focused on practicality rather than luxury; there are no extensive shopping or dining options, but a café and a small duty-free shop are typically present (though not confirmed in the data). Passengers should plan ahead for meals and entertainment, especially during peak hours around 11 am and 12 pm when the terminal can be busier.
Suceava is the historical capital of Moldavia and lies at the heart of the Bukovina region, famous worldwide for its painted monasteries — a UNESCO World Heritage site. The monasteries of Voroneț, Moldovița, Sucevița, and others are renowned for their vibrant exterior frescoes dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The region is also known for its traditional folk culture, wood-carved churches, and the fortified seat of the Moldavian princes at Suceava Fortress. Nature lovers appreciate the nearby Obcina Mare and Obcina Mici mountains, part of the Eastern Carpathians, offering hiking and winter sports. The airport serves as a convenient entry point for tourists exploring these cultural treasures, as well as for business travellers involved in the region's growing industries, including wood processing, textiles, and agriculture.
While the airport is modest, its friendly staff and clean environment make for a stress-free travel experience. For up-to-date flight information and any changes to facilities, refer to the official website.
