It's an amazing domestic airport, so great! The staffs here are so friendly and the airport is very clean, also in toilets. All in all, it's a very comfortable airport and makes passengers satisfied although it's just a simple domestic airport. It's even better than most of Philippines international airports. There's no doubt to give Calbayog Airport 5 stars!
had such incredible experience in thou you have to drove away from the airport to downtown to find a hotel its kinda hard to look for a right away place to stay overnight but in my personal experience humanity saved me from being homeless that night .

Calbayog Airport (also known as Calbayog City Airport) is a domestic airport serving the city of Calbayog in the province of Samar, Philippines. It is one of the key air gateways to the island of Samar, which is part of the Eastern Visayas region. The airport primarily handles flights to and from Manila and Cebu, operated by Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific. Given its location, the airport serves as a vital link for residents, business travellers, and tourists exploring Samar's natural attractions. While smaller in scale compared to major Philippine hubs, it provides a convenient and increasingly used alternative to the Tacloban Airport for those heading to northern Samar.
Calbayog Airport is situated approximately 5 kilometres east of Calbayog city centre, in Barangay Cagmanaba. The airport sits along the coastal plains of western Samar, near the Samar Sea. Access to the airport is via the Maharlika Highway (also known as the Pan-Philippine Highway), which runs the length of Samar island. From the city centre, travel time by car or tricycle is about 15–20 minutes. Tricycles (motorised rickshaws) are the most common mode of transport for short distances; a typical fare from downtown to the airport ranges from PHP 100–150. Jeepneys and vans also ply the route, though schedules are less frequent. For travellers arriving from other parts of Samar, the airport is about 3–4 hours by road from Tacloban City (the regional capital) and roughly 4–5 hours from Catarman. Renting a private van from Calbayog city or arranging a hotel transfer are the most comfortable options.
Calbayog Airport is a modest facility, but it offers essential amenities for passenger comfort. The airport building is compact, with a check-in area, waiting lounge, and boarding gates. Confirmed facilities include:
Beyond these, the terminal has basic seating, a small convenience store or kiosk offering snacks and drinks, and a few vending machines. Free Wi-Fi may be available, but signal strength can be variable. There is no dedicated lounge or airport hotel, but the city is a short ride away. Note that the airport does not have an on-site restaurant; passengers are advised to eat before arrival or pick up food at nearby eateries in Calbayog.
Samar island is the third-largest island in the Philippines, known for its rugged terrain, dense forests, and a coastline punctuated by caves, waterfalls, and white-sand beaches. The region is relatively off the beaten tourist track compared to Palawan or Boracay, offering a more authentic and quiet experience. Calbayog itself is the largest city in Samar, often called the "City of Waterfalls" due to the numerous cascades in its surroundings, such as the Bangon-Bugtong Falls and the Guinogo-an Falls. The nearby Tinago Falls is also a popular spot. For wildlife enthusiasts, the Samar Island Natural Park protects vast tracts of lowland rainforest, home to the endangered Philippine eagle and tarsiers. History buffs can visit the centuries-old St. Michael the Archangel Church in downtown Calbayog, one of the oldest in the region. The port area offers boat trips to the nearby islands of Capul and Dalupiri, where Spanish-era watchtowers and unspoiled beaches await. Many travellers use Calbayog as a base for exploring the Samar Island's east coast, famous for the San Juanico Bridge (connecting Samar and Leyte) and the Sohoton Caves National Park in Basey. The local cuisine features seafood, particularly dried fish and kinilaw (Filipino ceviche), often paired with tubâ (coconut toddy).
