I went to make reservations with Senor Air. They don't go to Tijuana, but they do go to Dallas and LA. They only book out about three to four months out. I made the trip for no reason. We got to the airport via Senor Air. The baggage was there when we reached the baggage area. The wheelchair was there when my wife got off the airplane. Small local airport. Easy flying in from Puerto Vallarta!
This was a great vacation, the city and surrounding area was great. We will definitely be back despite the airport. The airport is probably the least secure that I have ever seen. Also, what passes customs in Mexico can be confiscated in the US. This includes purchases made in the Duty Free Shop. You would think that they would warn you. Besides the language barrier, the airport is not laid out well and it is confusing. Please eat before you get to the airport, we stood in line for a hour and still didn't get to eat.

Don't ever buy food at this airport. Everything is sooo expensive. $150 USD for 9 street tacos and 4 sodas. Carls Jr is $20 for a hamburger. I've traveled all over the world and this airport is by far the biggest rip of when it comes to getting a meal I've ever been to.

This is specifically for immigration. If you are coming into the country to take pictures (camera, drone, underwater photos ect) then I would recommend skipping Cabo completely or hiding your camera. They will target anyone with a pelican case (or equivalent) and charge you 19% tax based on the value of the item new. So for me they saw I had diving photo equipment and pulled me aside. I had receipts proving that It was bought used and damaged 2 years prior. They honored the receipts but added anything not expressly stated in the receipts ( batteries, ports, strobes ect) . If I didn't have proof of it being used they were charging the price of a new one. They then asked for 300 us dollars to enter the country. When I asked for an explanation there was a language barrier, then I asked for a supervisor or public relations officer and the TSA agent just said "you must pay taxes". I then tried to sign " paid in protest" above my signature and she started yelling and stated "I can just confiscate your gear and you will be charged tax on new equipment". When I once again asked for a supervisor she said again "I will just confiscate your equipment". So I ended up paying 300 dollars on damaged equipment that I have owned for 3 years. There were 5 other tourists in the office also waiting to talk to someone and every one of them was forced to pay in a similar way. I don't know if it's just in Cabo or if it's in all of Mexico but this was normal and enforced by TSA so take that for what you may.
